The Tall Friend's Last Dinner
This is our 6 foot 7 inch pal, Jay: drafted from Rice, right-handed pitcher, Rangers diehard, and whose parents almost named him Bishop. And this is his farewell dinner. Since arriving in Florida 51 days ago, Adam and I have been blessed enough to call him our friend. Rehabbing from a recent Tommy John surgery, Jay has been in Florida longer than any other player on the team aside from Adam. His roots in the Lord made it an easy friendship, and Jay quickly turned into our "church chauffeur" for the first four weeks of life in Jupiter (because we were truck-less...cheers, the good ol' days!). Talk about the life of a professional baseball player: he's spent the last FOUR months living in a hotel room (Breakfast is provided every morning, but beyond that, it's take-out). And now, finally, he gets to return to Texas for two months of home cooking and country living. But first, he'll have to endure the 22 hour drive alone. Tomorrow morning he leaves, and for all he's done for us, we're so grateful. Drive safe buddy - we'll see you in January!
