The Coconut Expert and the Baseball Beginner
Our current neighbor is a coconut extraordinaire. Her and her husband lived on a sailboat for TWENTY-TWO years (never docking their boat once—they’d instead anchor their boat and use a small boat to row into their destinations!!!) and traveled the entire world doing so. He’s 91 and she’s 76 and now that they’ve settled in Florida, we have a wealth of information and incredible stories just a few houses down! Thursday, she showed the kids how to drill into a coconut and how to test to see if the water inside is rotten. What a cool place to live!
Then it was off to the car wash. AND THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT. I seem to be able to keep my house(s) reasonably clean, but I can’t for the life of me, do so with my car. Gremlins!!!
And finally, it was time for Bub’s last game as a Marlin.
His first season of kid pitch was all sorts of new to him. He’s grown even more than in the seasons past and is really beginning to understand how this game works. It was hard, it was fun, and though he’s still chasing that first hit off another kid, we’re sure proud of him! The name of the game is swinging at strikes, throwing strikes, and catching the ball. And for the most part, this is exactly what he learned!
