Day 3,539

The Durham Six Does it All

We woke up cozy.

And I mean, COZY.

But we didn’t stay that way for long because yesterday, we had a lot to do. First up: another hike! Or as Ella Mae understood it, we were going on a “pike.” This time, they found the same kind of special rock used to make a particular cement (we hypothesized anyways) that their favorite YouTube hut builders use to make amazing dwellings.

The Duke Forest turned out not to be their most favorite overall though. They complained of too many ground spiders and no immediate access to a nearby water source. They have their hearts set on the Eno River, and hey, I can’t blame them!

We did however enjoy ourselves and for the second hike in a row, found unique items to take home to display in our yellow house. Some of our favorite finds from yesterday: a butterfly wing, a Venus flytrap looking plant, and a very fragile and worn out leaf.

We sped home for some quick naps because up next was gymnastics!! All the kids get to go at around the same time on Thursdays! Molly starts next week, but everyone else was able to participate!! That’s my boy! And gymnastics is SO good for you, Bub!

Ella Mae was hysterical to watch, as she’s so incredibly fearless. Paired with her limited understanding of the names of the skills she was supposed to be completing, this child did a one handed cartwheel when her coach asked her to do a handstand on the little red mat pad, and I about fell out of my chair in both disbelief and laughter.

Amelia was a bit of a goof, but when she chose to focus, this girl rocked it. She has such good body awareness and control!

Finally, we came home and right as supper was being served, Daddy came on the iPad! He pitched two perfect innings last night in 21 pitches! It was sure fun to watch them watch him again. Our #55 is absolutely thankful to be apart of this organization and so encouraged by their professionalism and care of their athletes. They’ve got something good going on here and it’s surely a special thing. Go Bulls!

Not as special as this though.
Ice cream cones and sibling sky-gazing.
I’m not sure it gets sweeter.
