The Firsts Continue
I think Adam has thrown something like 35 bullpens since December. For reference, the most he’s ever thrown in any off season is 10. It’s certainly not been the ideal baseball situation, but if anyone can do it well, it’s Adam. Yesterday, I finally got to go down and see one myself—without any babes so I could actually focus on what he was doing. He’s maintained his readiness, even through all the setbacks we’ve faced in getting to Japan—something we’re confident is not happening this season, as the country just ordered their third state of emergency in six months. Nevertheless, he continues his work and Friday morning, threw an impressive bullpen that saw his fastball sitting 95.5 MPH over nearly 30 pitches. We’re not quite sure what’s going to happen still, but if he in fact, gets the opportunity to actually play, he’s ready as ever.
In other news, we’re learning all about how America became a country this year in second grade, and this week, we learned specifically about the Civil War. And so, Bearett set up all his toy soldiers and asked me to battle. Our battle lasted less than thirty seconds before all my soldiers were splashed all over the room. He claimed victory. I made him pick them all up.
This weekend, our church hosted a men’s conference and prepared a wild game supper for Friday night. The kids had never tried some of the food that was being fried, and since we live so close to the action, they got a couple nibbles. Bub ate rattlesnake.
All the kids tried alligator—and liked it. Molly and Amelia especially.
To complete the excitement of our day, the kids found a tree covered in lady bugs and couldn’t help but obsess over them.
It may not be as we had planned, but we’re sure having fun and learning lots.
