The Favorite Spots
Sunday after church, this is our spot.
And because we frequent so often, the manager has since come to expect us and sometimes surprises us with tasty treasures—yesterday, he surprised the kids with leftover donuts from our town’s favorite donut shop. Starting to think I really ought to find a nice gift for all the special people who so kindly serve us each Sunday! I’m all ears if anyone has a suggestion!
Every night after supper, this is our spot. Though, the nightly removal of the coffee table from our big rug has been an exciting new endeavor. The kids enjoy sprawling out all over the floor while we read and pray and even do some gymnastics before and after. Goodness, I love them. I so often think about what they’ll say when they’re old and grown regarding their childhood. What they’ll remember. What they’ll treasure. What they’ll struggle with and how they’ll rebel. This thought process drives me to more serious hatred of my own sin, more attention to the unity of our home, and more consideration on the kind of time I’m spending with each of my four children. I pray they’ll recognize the faith of their parents as that of the only true, worthy, saving faith available and submit their whole lives in faith to the Lord in recognition of their sin against holy God and His accomplishment on the cross because of it. This is my life’s great work and sometimes I confess that I lose track of the forest from the trees. Parenting is hard. Parenting faithfully is even harder. But reflecting on this image gives my heart such hope and encouragement to continue loving these precious gifts from God in patience and long suffering, knowing that this work before me is the most worthy effort.
Goodnight my loves.
I am so thankful to be your mommy.
