Day 3,335

The Growing Gremlins

It all started pretty typical: oatmeal from the pot and Bitsy trying anything she can do to get her grubby paws on some  delightful morsels. Gremlin, just like the rest of them!

But we love the Gremlins!

These two are becoming closer and closer. Amelia now changes her diapers, reads to her, carries her around, and helps me keep her smiling.

Amelia is shooting up before my eyes—yesterday, I found her calendar all marked up, as she realized that Mom had left a bunch of blank squares in October that needed to be filled. Ha! Her kindergarten curriculum currently has her learning how to write and recognize the number 7. I’m pretty sure she’s got that down.

And right behind her is this little whiz kid. Mae Mae watches darn near everything that Amelia does and tries her best to imitate her older sister. I can’t believe some of the things she’s able to do that Amelia never did at three years old. The older sibling and trying-to-keep-up thing is definitely at work in this girl.

And my boy. He is on this crazy baseball kick right now. Yesterday, I took him out back to hit some baseballs and play a game of catch. He’s not so interested in the throwing and catching part, but he finally discovered some of his power with the bat and is now constantly asking me to go outside with him to hit. He absolutely crushed three balls, hitting them from the middle of our yard into the far end of our neighbor’s and now he’s talking about hitting the ball over the fence at his next game. Go Bear!

And random, but not-so-random: ever since coming back from Georgia, Adam and I are even more serious about finding some land for our boy (and girls too). He absolutely thrives in the outdoors and we so badly want to give him some space to explore and adventure. It’s proving to be quite difficult to locate, but we’re on the hunt even more seriously now and it’s really exciting.
