The Conley Quarantine: Day 82
He went to bed six.
AND WOKE UP SEVEN!!!!!
Weeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
Our boy is SEVEN and we can’t believe it!
I remember vividly holding him when he was just two months old and thanking the Lord for his precious life. Each birthday is a reminder of the mercy and grace of God working in his heart even before he he was fully formed in the womb. What joy it is especially, to celebrate each year of our son—none of us are promised tomorrow and yet, God sustains us today. The gift of life is truly that and we praise His name for it.
I feel like yesterday, a shift happened. He woke up and he was big. Like, BIG big. Like, stop it, you can’t be big, big! It’s definitely been brewing, but we officially—in my professional opinion—have a “big kid,” and though it aches my heart just a tiny bit, I’m incredibly excited for the freshness of a new season. I will, however note, that today, Bearett decided that it wasn’t cool anymore to kiss his mom while getting tickled in front of his friends! Excuse me, but boy, you’re gonna have a rough go at it if you don’t want your mommy’s public kisses because like them or not, they’re still coming! ;)
This year, Bearett spent much of his time building legos, learning to read, riding anything with wheels, making insanely annoying screeching noises, asking for forgiveness, crushing baseballs, leading his girls, loving on Molly, working out with Daddy, swimming in the pool, collecting things, digging for treasure, fishing, confessing, yelling, jumping on the trampoline, playing the piano, hunting lizards, and reading the Bible FOR REAL!
As a seven year old, he’s phased out of taking naps. He cleans his own room. He has truly disgusting smelling armpits (of which he thinks is hilarious to put in his sisters’ faces). He takes out the trash. He’s lost four teeth. He loves reading his action Bible. He gets in trouble constantly. And is truly, ALL BOY!
As for his favorite things, he loves anything Star Wars or Mandalorian. He loves all things sweet (and I mean ALL things sweet, gracious). His favorite food is steak and his least favorites are still mashed potatoes and beans. He’s all about anything camo or green and currently thinks ninjas are extra cool—he’s even begun taking ninja classes at the gymnastics facility the girls go to. His favorite subject is math, but only the “fun kind,” and he definitely doesn’t prefer writing though he’s quite good at it. He doesn’t like sitting if he’s doing schoolwork, but if his sitting involves watching a movie, he might just stay there all day. He used to say that he didn’t like the Florida heat, but is now a processing certified Floridian. His current most favorite activity is fishing with Daddy and he also would likely spend the entire day outside doing it if it were allowed. He absolutely loves provoking his sisters and picks on them endlessly, something I’ve heard only intensifies as he grows. I can’t say I’m looking forward to more of that! He still loves picking me flowers and cuddling me early in the morning, both of which I hope never cease from his nature. Our boy is ferociously boy but oh so so sweet. He’s got a tenderness that is so endearing and lovely and especially precious to me. His heart is unique in that he already loves sharing God’s truth and never shies away from it, even when it’s costly. He’s our little gentleman and a miniature mouthpiece for the gospel, speaking to anyone at anytime and anywhere who will listen to his voice. We are crazy in love with him and so eager to see how the Lord continues to use his most precious life.
And landing on the same day as his birthday this year, Bearett and five of his other homeschool friends had a graduation celebration—his first one!
One of my girlfriends (thank you Dani!!!!) thought it would be sweet to host a graduation ceremony for all the little students who homeschool in our church and since Bearett didn’t get to participate in one after he finished kindergarten, we have ourselves now a first grade graduate!! My goodness is he ADORABLE!
He even has a diploma to prove it!
We are SO proud of all your hard work these past two years, Bubba!! Congratulations on your graduation and the faithfulness you showed all the way through! We can’t wait to see how God uses your second grade year to bring glory and honor to His name.
We love you Brother!!
Happy HAPPY birthday (and graduation!) to our dearest
