The Conley Quarantine: Day SIXTY
“Well, you get down the fiddle and you get down the bow
Kick off your shoes and you throw ‘em on the floor.
Dance in the kitchen till the mornin’ light.
Louisiana Saturday night.”
-Mel McDaniel
Been Ella Mae’s favorite country song since she was Molly’s age, living in New Orleans. Now it’s Molly’s favorite country song living at home. Not what they were singing yesterday morning, but by the looks of it in this photo, that’s the song it made me think of.
“Got down the piano instead of the fiddle.
Kicked off their shoes for sure—house rule, duh Mom. Threw ‘em on the laundry room floor instead of in the laundry room baskets...check.
Dance in the guest room till we find something better to do. Covid quarantine Sunday afternoon.”
-Conley Kids in Real Life
Just doesn’t rhyme as well.
Looks like my days of songwriting never took off after all.
