The Monkey Jungle
A once in a lifetime adventure and we’re still smiling about it! The most hidden gem in Miami: a rainforest filled with hundreds and hundreds of wild monkeys. And the best part? The squirrel monkeys will walk right onto your body and feed from your hand!!!
The monkeys occupy a 30 acre subtropical rainforest - most of it untouched by humans - but happily come out to feed from tourists carrying their favorite mix of nuts and dried fruit.
The instructions were to “stick one arm out or place it on a tree while holding the food with the other hand close to your body.”
Sure enough, after only moments of practice, they came out to play!! Well, the came out to eat, technically.
We had monkeys on our heads,
Monkeys on their heads,
Monkeys on babies,
Monkeys swinging,
Monkeys riding,
Capuchin monkeys snatching,
Monkeys jumping,
Monkeys carrying babies,
Monkeys asking for food refills in their cups while holding their babes,
Monkeys absolutely everywhere.
It was the coolest thing we’ve maybe ever done yet. We love you, Monkey Jungle!!!!!!

And yes, we did research buying a monkey for a pet following yesterday’s events. And no, we’re not getting a monkey.
