“The(re’s) No Such Thing as a Gruffalo!!”
Though I wish I could be doing this right now, Dad closed his first game tonight and got the save(!), which means our entire night got pushed back. So it’s 1:28 and I’m still awake and haven’t posted yet. But hey, ain’t that what coffee is for tomorrow anyways?!
Ella Mae’s birthday box is too good to be forced to be put off another night. So since AUNTIE KIM likely had to forgo much sleep to see this to fruition, I will sacrifice more sleep to share with you this jaw dropping gift. Best of all time possibly.
So here’s the background for clarity.
GRUFFALO.
We don’t watch many shows around here. But when we find one we like, we REALLY like it. Enter: The Gruffalo. We originally found it on Netflix, but now can only watch it on Amazon Prime. So if you have kids and have Prime, you should probably totally watch it. And look, I don’t try to advertise anything - really ever - in here (other than Christ haha) and certainly not a show. But, we just love the Gruffalo. And the one tiny person who’s ESPECIALLY fond of the story - little miss Ella Mae. She probably asks 20 times a day for Guff, ‘Nake, Owl, and Sox. She talks about the “deep dark wood,” and recites most lines by memory. We even eat “Owl Ice Cream!” Needless to say, she loves Gruffalo. Like, a lot.
And so, if you know Auntie Kim by now, you know that she’s best at exploiting the kids’ most favorite things on their birthdays with THE MOST THOUGHFUL AND CREATIVE GIFT BOXES EVERRRRRRRRR. And like the wizard she is, she put together the most comprehensive and astonishing box yet. Gruffalo EVERYTHING!!!

Ella Mae was like Merlin pulling stuff out of this box.
It just kept. On. Coming.
Gruffalo books and toys and animals and clothes and more books and even a homemade Gruffalo BABY CARRIER y’all.

Ella Mae’s two big siblings had the toughest time keeping their grubby paws out of the box. Remember, they’re Gruffalo lovers too, so it was hard work watching this unfold right before their eyes.

I mean cmon!!! How cute can it get?!?
Handmade. You better believe it!!

And then when you thought it couldn’t possibly get any better...

...she crocheted an entire Gruff blanket - complete with purple prickles!!!!
I can’t even!!!

She had no instruction manual and she somehow ended up with this piece of almost awesomeness! Ah! I just can’t!

Ella Mae off with just the neartest and most fun, thoughtful, precious things.

She even got her own special order of Roasted Fox, Scrambled Snake, and Owl Ice Cream.

I can’t compete with this.
I can’t compete with this.
But I’m glad I don’t have to because Auntie Kim is too good at it and far too thoughtful to be beat!!
My goodness!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
So fun - we love your gifts but even more, we love the heart and effort that goes into loving our children so well.
As Ella Mae would happily say, “Happy bufday to Eh-Mae!!! Tank you!!”
