Day 2,362

The More-Bitter-Than-Sweet Birthday

It was a bittersweet birthday party for our friend, Landon. He turns three on Christmas, and so the premature celebration is usually due to the nature of the date of his birth. But this year, we celebrated early because he’s moving to Missouri with his family the day after his Christmas birthday. We were happy to celebrate him, but the looming goodbye proved itself a bitter pill to swallow. Brandi has been a dear friend to me for the past six years, and to watch them pack up their lives and move across the country leaves a lump in my throat and an ache in my heart. I will miss her generosity, her thoughtfulness, her competitiveness, sincerity, and rawness. Her smile just as much. And not to mention the familiarity of having a friend I can depend on literally right across the street. I’ll miss you and I pray that Missouri opens new doors in the pursuit of knowing, loving, serving, and obeying Christ, which is the foundation and cornerstone of any meaningful endeavor in life. I love you, Brandi. And every time a Jupiter Donut finds it’s way into my stomach, know that it’s your face I’ll be thinking of ;)
