Day 2,251

The Mud Slinger Debut

The mud.

The Slinger’s Debut.
2018.
A scoreless sixth inning out of the bullpen.
One hit. One punchout.
16 pitches. 13 strikes.
Average fastball velocity: 96 MPH.
NINETY-SIX MILES PER HOUR.
Average.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Incredible.
A humbling victory.
And though he’s got a lot more to work on, being able to see those kind of results at the highest level once again is something I’m tremendously proud of him for. He’s battled through so much doubt across all realms of life in regards to his failures last year. And instead of leaning on man for his direction, he trusted the Lord and knew that if he had a future in baseball, it was his effort that would propel him forward, but it was the Lord who’d sustain him. He’s worked through sin and trial and idols and rebuke, frustration and anger and patience and confusion. He’s asked for help. He’s stood his ground. He’s done everything he could possibly know to do physically, mentally, emotionally, but this victory wouldn’t taste so sweet if spiritually, he hadn’t gone through what the Lord brought him through this past year. So much growth. So much revelation. What joy!! What faith!

We’re looking forward to what’s next but so thankful to be where we are. Whether he has a continued role in the bullpen or if they want to see him start, we don’t know. But we’re ok waiting.

And to the Twitter dude who (jokingly) accused Adam’s jump in velocity to HGH use: midnight peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and two cups of whole chocolate milk. That’s the 6-month recipe ;) But you gotta have the right bread. And don’t let the jelly touch the edge.
