Day 2,297

The Joy of Contentment

I have a slight obsession with sleeping babes in the morning. They’re the most scrumptious then, especially my Ella Mae!

But this is what is NOT considered scrumptious. True life: three kids and a sweaty dada. One million loads of laundry. Constant. Endless. Perpetual. Good thing my mom taught me to love it when I was young and now the Lord teaches me to love it when I’m “old.” It’s called contentment and though the machines never stop, I’m thankful that I have all these clothes to fold in the first place. And a machine for that matter! When I consider the Proverbs 31 woman, who did FAR more than just simply wash and fold clothes (among other outrageously impressive things, she sewed ALL her and her family’s clothes, washed them without a washer and dryer, prepared/made extra clothes for seasons to come, and did it all with joy), it makes my task one that I look at as easy in comparison.

I love being a mom. The smiles I get. The surprises I see. The learning I witness. The growth I enjoy. It’s the sweetest, most difficult yet fulfilling task I’ve ever been met with and I’m so thankful the Lord chose me on His behalf, to grow them up faithfully in His name.

Here’s one of those smiles I love so much to get. There she sat, grinning ear to ear with her bible in her mouth. Because apparently she’s taking Matthew 4:4 literally :) That’s my girl.

And though most times the smiles are some of my favorites, the face palms are pretty great too. I took Ella Mae to the store with me four ONE hour while Dad stayed home with the big kids. And THIS is what I came home to. Can’t make this stuff up. Him, an oversized wolf shirt with Christmas socks, and her, a pink and yellow mismatched outfit with soaking wet hair. WINNING.
