Day Two Thousand and Ninety-One

The Long, Sweaty, and Super Stinky Travel Day

Well, at least yesterday started off cute. Amelia and I visited the same breakfast spot for the third day in a row. Hello baseball life! Each time, she's managed to make several friends, but yesterday, she made friends AND made off with her boots. Giggle. I guess I know what I'll be purchasing soon!

It was still cute by this point, even though the day game had all of us dripping sweat everywhere. Millie had beads on her nose, Ella Mae had a puddle on her cheek, and Mom, well, it was everywhere. So gross.

We were all pretty nasty by the time we got to the car, so I whipped out the baby wipes and gave each of us a sorry excuse for a bath while sitting in the rental. Then Amelia and I changed ALL our clothes and waited on Daddy to drive back to the airport.

And this is where it REALLY started spiraling downwards. We had literally just pulled into the airport when Ella Mae decided to explode. The poop was everywhere. All over her, all over me, all over her car seat and blanket. Thankfully it didn't get on Daddy's handsome outfit. The whole ordeal took us a solid 15 minutes to clean up and by that time, we were all sweaty AGAIN.

We stood in the check in line for at least an hour without barely moving. The whole state of Texas got drenched in rain yesterday, causing a ruckus at the ticket counter with people trying to find other ways to get to their destination. With my back aching, Amelia complaining of being hungry, and sweat continuing to run down my back, I got rather impatient. The ugliness of a tired Mama on full display. All I wanted to do was get our tickets and get on with the night, but there was no movement. I had to apologize to Adam once we got through security and ask for forgiveness. He's so gracious toward me and patient when I'm the opposite. I'm so thankful for his accountability and steady demeanor. He is faithful to call me out when I'm wrong and humble when he forgives.

All that to say: we finally sat down to eat at one of the only opened restaurants in the airport at 8PM. Our flight was delayed from a 7:30 departure to a 10:50 departure and so, we got the kiddies ready for bed once we finished our barbecue.

Our layover was supposed to be a mere 30 minutes long. It turned into something more like 75. We finally took off at 12:50 in the morning, but not before Amelia found herself a roped off Dunkin Donut shop prepping for the morning rush, and snagged herself a "complimentary" unglazed donut. My child.

She was still kickin by the time we finally departed.

But alas! She fell right asleep once the lights turned off and never woke back up from her slumber. Not all the way through the airport, at baggage claim, in the cab, or transferring her to the bed at 3AM. Glad that travel day is done with!
