Day Two Thousand and Seventy-Six

The Second Baby Cake Start

Waking up next to these goobers is our favorite thing. They're beginning to really bond and it's endearing to watch their relationship grow. Amelia pats Ella Mae's booty and shushes her quiet. She calls her "Baby Sisturd" and pinches her chubby cheeks with delight. She holds her hands and kisses her mouth, giggling as though it's the best thing ever. She also tells her "stop crying or I'll spank you," so we're working on that one. Not sure how she correlated discipline by spanking and crying too much, but at least she doesn't follow through with her threats!

We're definitely enjoying our tiny family. Even from a cramped extended stay hotel in New Orleans. Dad's working his hardest to get us out of here, but for now, we're trying our best to make the most of it.

Dad pitched tough yesterday while battling through a stinger in between his shoulder blades, which came on suddenly on Friday. Conley Curse is back, yeah? My constant reminder: the Lord is sovereign, Kendall. He is.

The first inning was rough (for multiple reasons you'd only understand if you'd watched it) and he had no luck at the plate (struck out in his only at bat, pictured above...which is also the only photo I got of him playing...I accidentally left my phone in the car, so I had a wife take a picture of Adam for me and this is what she was able to capture). But though the first inning ran up his pitch count and he had zero luck at the plate, he was efficient and effective the next three and a half innings before he was pulled in the fifth, presumably on pitch count? I'm not sure.

From then on, this is mostly how we all felt. Tired. Frustrated. Stuck. And rain delayed.

But never missing a beat, our Big Sis came through and raised everyone's spirits the way only she can.

This girl is a gem. Truly. Thank you for always being able to bring perspective and a smile. .
