The Night of Black Eyes
Black-eyed bubble-head.
Oh yesterday, how you done did me wrong.
It started at midnight, when Amelia decided she wasn't going back to sleep. Fast forward to 3:30AM, I'm bawling my eyes out, Adam is trying to console me, and Amelia is still NOT sleeping. Fast forward another hour, in another bed - after spending from 3:30 to 4:30 on the couch - and she's finally asleep. Four and a half hours of tossing and turning with my little girl and only tears and frustration to show for it. At 37 weeks pregnant with zero energy, I can't even tell you how good it felt to finally close my eyes. We slept (if you can even call it that because she continued to wake up every time I moved a muscle) until 9:45, ate breakfast, and took a bath, hoping to relax her a bit more so she'd take an early - and long - nap. She didn't oblige, but she did enjoy her bath time. Black eyes and all. That afternoon, she came down with a snotty nose and a fever that ran through last night. Thankfully, she woke up totally normal this morning (still sporting a runny nose though) and I can't for the life of me figure out what happened. I don't feel any new teeth, which is usually the culprit, but my sister did suggest that maybe she was having growing pains. Hopefully that was the case and the fever/snotty nose was just a side effect of not sleeping all night. Who knows. All I DO know is that this mama needs some sleep. Please. Lots of sleep.
