Day Sixteen Hundred and Two

The Slow, Sleepy Days

I don't think this photo says enough by itself, so let me explain:
AMELIA IS IN HER PACK N PLAY.
ASLEEP.
ALONE.
BY HERSELF.
HOLY WHAAAAT?!
Starting yesterday, Adam and I decided that maybe it's time Amelia learns how to nap on her own. Whoa. For the entirety of her life, she's fallen asleep in the cozy nook of my neck. Truth. And while I've loved every last cuddle session, we realized that it's maybe not the most practical way for Mommy to spend 4 hours of every day. And so, we're easing into the idea of her snoozing on her own. Which makes me sorta sad, but, I have to be realistic at some point. And so, yesterday, we let her play in her crib (which is in the living room) for around 20 minutes before she started crying. Now, I'm the kind of mama who just can't listen to her baby cry. So when she did, I picked her up, nursed her some, and then put her back into the crib. When she cried again, I repeated. I continued this back and forth until she fell asleep in my arms...and then took my chances and placed her in the crib! And...she didn't wake up!! A small victory for the Conley family, but a victory nonetheless. Now, I just have to stay consistent and hopefully, she'll be napping in her crib all by her big girl self!

Post nap...and we needed to get a little fresh air. We've had a rough couple of days, and the cool Florida breeze felt good on our lungs.

She makes me so happy.
Love my little family.
