The Eighth Month of Millie
My Little (Getting SO Big) MillieGirl,
Every month I say the same thing: I can't believe time has gone as fast as it has. I think I'll probably say that for the rest of my life? Definitely. And though it saddens me to see you growing out of the teeny tiny, perfectly independent little girl you used to be, it absolutely fascinates me to watch you grow (20.1 pounds and 29 inches long!!). You're filled with so much personality and so much love. You're a people-lover, a hand-waver, a clap-clapper, and you never withhold your smile. It's especially fun watching you in public around new people - they can never get enough of you! And we can't either.
This month by far was filled with the most changes we've seen yet. You officially no longer have that toothless grin we loved so much. It's been replaced by TWO adorable toofers (that's what Daddy and I call them) and we're loving your new look even more! Although, the one time you bit Mommy...I wasn't loving it so much. I screamed. You screamed. And then you cried. It was terrible, so just try to never do that again please. For both our sakes.
Your teeth have caused some discomfort, a ton of snot, and even more drool. It's certainly not the most fun thing we've gone through, but you actually seem to be handling it quite well. I always envisioned teething to be a nightmare - imagining you turning into some wild child I couldn't tame. That's not the case though. You're still the sweetest girl I've ever met. I don't know how you pull it off, Amelia, but I'm sure glad you do!
This month, you took off.
You really learned to crawl, but even more impressive than that is how well you've learned to pull yourself up onto pretty much everything. We've got lots of people convinced that you'll be walking by nine months and we wouldn't be surprised it that were the case. Such a strong girl!
This month was also a very busy one, My Baby.
I'll tell you again and again: I am so very blessed by you and your easy temperament.
We traveled to Tampa, we watched Daddy's season come to an end, we packed up Apartment #9 (all by ourselves), we flew to Georgia, we stayed in a cabin, we drove to Kentucky and met Auntie and Mimi, we flew back to Florida, and we stayed with friends for 10 days. But guess what, Amelia? In just one more night, you'll be finally sleeping in YOUR OWN home...for the very first time.
And we can't wait!
We can't wait to slow down and enjoy this first bit of offseason life with you!
This month was filled with paper signing and decision making and errand running unlike any other in our whole lives! But we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and Baby...it looks like your Peir1 bedroom lamp light to me!
Some other things you did this month:
You learned to say 'milk' with your hands. It's maybe not the clearest signal, but it's a signal nonetheless and we're so proud that you were able to learn it so fast! Although, you pulling my shirt down is probably the clearest signal of them all. Oh yeah, you do it all the time.
You learned how to sip from a sippy cup.
This is huge, Amelia. This could potentially mean that Daddy and I will get a date night at some point this offseason. Yeah? Ok, probably not...who am I kidding?! Although Mommy did leave you this month for one four-hour chunk of time. It was terrifying and lovely all at once. You and Daddy stayed at the cabin with all the other daddies while Mommy went to the spa for a relaxing get-away with her friends. If I didn't thank you enough for that...thank you again. But, I don't know how much more I'll be leaving you like that. I just can't do it!! I'm too obsessed with your cuddles and loves!
You learned how to squat.
It's a better squat than mine.
And I'm jealous. Mommy's not nearly as flexible as you.
Things you did for the very first time:
You went to a pumpkin patch.
(We found you the brightest one in the whole patch)
You slid down a slide and swung on a swing.
(Neither excited you)
You went on a hike (and loved the water!).
You got a new wardrobe.
(Thanks Auntie Kim, Mimi, and Grandma!)
You kissed two boys!
(Yeah, ya did.)
You went to our neighborhood garage sale.
(We both scored BIG time!)
But the one thing that hasn't changed?
You still own the title of Cutest, Sweetest, Most Biggest Blessing of My Life.
Daddy and Mommy are absolutely madly in love with you. You make us smile and laugh and giggle and talk in ways we didn't even know existed and every day, we thank God for choosing us to be your parents. I am in awe of you, Little One. You're a treasure. And you've brought us closer to Christ in these past 8 months than ever before. Thank you for being...you. You're everything I ever dreamed you'd be, and so much more. I love you. Daddy loves you. And just like in our song we sing every night...Jesus loves you.
All my heart,
Mommy
