Day One Thousand Two Hundred and Fifty-Three

The 38th Week

Dear My Sweetest Little Poppy,

So, I don't know if I ever told you this, but for a long time - and even up until now - you've been known around the house by Mommy and Daddy as "Poppy." You got that nickname when you were just four weeks old. Yep, we knew about you that soon!! At that time, you were itty bitty - much smaller than you are now - and in fact, you were so itty bitty that all the baby books and online baby sites described you as being the size of a poppyseed!! And that's where the nickname Poppy was born. Can you believe it?! Only 8 months ago, you were just a tiny little speck...and today, you're the length of a leek (whatever that is)! Apparently, this leek-thing is over 19.2 inches long though!

So, Little Miss Poppy...more about Week 38...
When we went to the birth house on Thursday, Elizabeth told us that you were really long. Like, probably longer than average. She also told us that you're probably right around 6.5 pounds, which is maybe just a little bit skinnier than average. Not surprising - you're Daddy's girl after all!! Just as long as you don't get his toes!! Oh, and we really want you to have my nose (Dad's is too manly for a little baby girl!). Other than that, you can be just like Daddy and it would make me the happiest Mama ever!! You know what else would make me the happiest Mama ever? If whenever you decide to come, you really like to sleep and wake up with only a little whimper in the middle of the night! Yeah?! Because right now, Mommy's a lot tired. Especially this week for some reason. I've had to take lots of really long naps during the day, which I don't for a second feel bad about because I want to be as rested and prepared when you decide to come...but, I definitely wouldn't mind being able to sleep at night sometimes too! You're just so big that it's hard to get comfy! I like that you're big though, so keep it up, you! Oh yes, and Mommy's gained 22.5 pounds now!

Oh girlie, I just can't wait to hold you in my arms and tell you how much I love you. And I can't wait to see your face and kiss you on those little tiny lips. The anticipation is taking over my days, but whenever you decide to come is when we want you here! Until then, I'll just be working out and eating spicy-ish foods!
WE LOVE YOU POPPY!

Always,
Mommy

Oh, and Mommy and Daddy went out on a date last night. It might be the last one we ever go on without babies and kids all around, so it was extra special. We promise, if nothing else, to show you the love and faithfulness of a strong and Godly marriage as you grow up in our family. Love you, Sweet One. And see that pretty red heart on my shirt? Your great-grandma gave that to me three years ago and I've worn it every Valentine's Day since then. When you grow up, maybe you'd like to have it and wear it on your Valentine's date with your husband too? She would love that.
