The Biggest (Most Exciting) Delivery Decision
As of yesterday, I was 30 weeks and 3 days pregnant.
With less than 10 weeks to go, it was obviously the perfect time to mix everything up!
Deep breath.
Ok...rewind for a quick second:
When we found out we were pregnant - within the first month - we decided that we really wanted a completely natural water birth. Dun dun dun! No meds. No shots. No nothing. Just me and the daddy and the water and the pain and the biggest prize EVER: our baby girl!
We selected the hospital we did because they allow - and even encourage - laboring in water until full dilation. It's one of only two hospitals within 40 miles of us that offer this option, so, we naturally chose a midwife/OBGYN that delivers at this specific hospital. However, in Florida, it is not legal to deliver a baby actually into the water in a hospital setting. Which means: I'll have to climb out of the tub once my baby girl's head is crowning and deliver some other way. Uhhhh? How does that even work? I still don't have an answer to that question.
Ok...fastforward:
I've done so much research over the past few months.
And it's been incredible!
As Adam and I sifted and prayed through the information we'd learned, we kept feeling an intense unsettling in our spirits about our specific hospital delivery. It just wasn't working for us. And so, we began looking into alternative birthing options. With the intention of having a completely natural delivery experience - free from any interventions (before, during, and after labor) - we decided that we'd feel more comfortable, safe, and confident in a birthing center.
And so yesterday, we met with the midwives at The Palms Birth House, toured their facility, and ultimately made the decision that that's where we're going to bring Little Baby Girl into the world!!! Yay!!
We are so excited, so encouraged, and so looking forward to February!
Our hearts are settled. And it feels so good.
(And yes, we do realize that our decision is maybe a bit different than the norm...so if you have any questions...feel free to ask away! We really enjoy talking and sorting through all the amazing things we've learned over the past couple months - topics like vaccines, medicine, plastics, chiropractic care, GMOs, fluoride, essential oils, natural birth, home products - and want to be as open as possible with why we've chosen the routes we have! We obviously realize that we don't have all the answers, that we're not professionals, and that we're only just a couple of almost-parents trying to be faithful to what we think is best for our growing family. So, if you think we're crazy or off our rockers, that's ok too! We still love you. Maybe a little less though. Haha kidding!!)
Less than 10 weeks, Little Lady!!!
Greg and Sasha had Siena at home in an inflatable hot tub in their apartment in New York. With a midwife in attendance.
