The Fifth Zephyr Start
5-run innings are a thing of the past. I hope.
Adam has learned a lot since his first start in AAA, when he gave up 7 runs in 4 innings and almost made me cry. Fact: I didn't cry. Opinion: baseball is more fun when you win.
It was a rough way to start the season, but he's making it easier and easier on me lately. Last night, he pitched the Zs to their fourth consecutive win and did it without giving up any runs. He did walk two guys though. And I was a little mad at him for that.
His line:
7IP, 5H, 0R, 2BB, 7K and the W.
He's 2-2 now with a 3.99 ERA. Finally, we're out of the 15s!!! And though Adam doesn't find his identity in baseball, it is more fun having a single-digit ERA.
And last night's interview with MiLB:
All the way from Mississippi, these guys came to watch the Zephrys play...and we were humbled to find them waiting outside an hour after the game. They screamed when Adam walked out and crowded around for a picture. Their enthusiasm and excitement reminded us just how unique and special Adam's platform is. When it's all said and done, these are the moments that will mean more to us than all the stats.
