The(re) Are Three Things You can do in a Baseball Game:
You can Win, or You can Lose, or it can Rain
They tried so hard. But the rain was persistent and relentless (sounds like Adam when I first met him!). And after a half hour of clear skies following a delay, the rain came yet again...only this time, lacking all bashfulness.
It poured. Like, crashing, blowing, sideways downpour kind of rain. And it wasn't backing off. So, with only an inning and a half completed in yesterday's afternoon game, the umps threw up their hands and postponed the matchup...to be completed in a doubleheader today. Rats. I wanted to watch some baseball.
But we got free dinner, so my disappointment was subdued for the night. It was the Suns' annual banquet, hosted by Lloyd's Restaurant and Peter Bragan Jr., owner of the Jacksonville Suns. And the food? True Alabama barbecue. With its vinegar based sauce and all. Where we're from...BBQ doesn't come in the flavorings and likes of vinegar - rather with a tomato base - so it was a lot different...but much appreciated! (Especially the chocolate pie!) Thankful for a generous kindness and a wonderful group of guys to share the experience with.
