The Blanked Seventh Start
The 7:05 scheduled start time for yesterday's Breast Cancer Awareness and Bark at the Park game was much delayed. And by delayed, I mean, by like an hour and a half. And I was dreading the possibility of rain cancelling my Hubby's only home start this series. The sky just kept on falling, but by about 8:00, they removed the tarp and began prepping the field! The game was ON!
It was quite the night at the park. The first 500 female fans were given a pink SUNS shirt (I walked away with one for me...and a few others for some special ladies in my life!) and we were allowed to hang out and watch the game with furry friends on our laps! This is Heff. And he's pretty darn cute.
But the real treat of the night was watching Adam blank the Pensacola Wahoos in 6 innings of one-hit baseball. And by hit, I mean bunt...a really lame bunt in the bottom of the fifth inning. Once on base, the runner tried his darndest to steal second, but the Conley/Realmuto duo is not something to mess with. JT (Realmuto) threw the guy out at second and the Suns walked off the field...having retired the minimum 18 hitters (over 6 innings) in order. 3-up-3-down...6 innings in a row. And good for Adam's best performance yet this season.
Here's a neat write up on his game last night:
In 65 pitches (wow!), Adam's line was this:
6IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 5K
And his velo was up too! Yay!
Then he left (me) again.
For Mobile, Alabama.
The team departed the field at midnight last night...and while he traveled, I packed. Because I wasn't about to spend 10 days alone in Jacksonville as my family celebrated Mother's Day and my sister's Baby Shower. So, I packed and cleaned, packed and cleaned, and finally my head hit the pillow at 3 AM...only to be rudely awakened by my alarm at 4 AM...
That was one very long day.
But such a good one!
