The Fourth Start and First Bag
He's baaaa-aaaaack!
I just love when he's home.
Mostly because I can scream at him from the stands. Hahaha ;) Kidding.
He
didn't need to be screamed at yesterday. Ok, well, maybe just once. But
instead, I just covered my eyes. Adam - it's well known - has been
working and working and working on his slider. Well this week was just a
little different. Not in the fact that he was working on it, but that
he changed it. Adam actually went back to his old
slider...the one he threw from age 8-18...the one he threw before he
played college ball. The one he knows. For the last 4 years, Adam has
been constantly readjusting his slider in order to find some comfort and
consistency in it. All without much progress. So he's gone back to the
old days. And he's really really excited about it (me too!). The
only downside of this change is that he just hasn't practiced it for
quite some time. So yesterday, after throwing three in a row, a dude got
a hold of one and ripped it to left field. And over the wall. Home run.
Boooo. Adam had a shutout going before that hit...it was in the fifth
inning and we were up 3-0. He left that inning with the score 3-2,
having thrown 75 total pitches. His line for the night:
5IP, 4H, 2R, 2ER, 1HR, 0BB, 4K
WAHOO!!!
His first professional bag EVER!
In
Adam's first at-bat of the day, he drew a walk and found himself on
first base, 90 feet later! He still doesn't have a hit, but this is
certainly progress!
In his second at-bat, Adam came to the plate with BASES LOADED.
I yelled out to him, "It's batting practice Babe!"
AND...
He struck out.
Grand slam possibility no more. Rats.
Oh my lanta, how exciting!!!
