The Hometown to Hometown Drive
Adam and I left for Olympia this afternoon and had a long
drive ahead of us. Usually, it takes around 5 ½ hours to get to his hometown
from mine, but behind this little fella, it took us just a little longer. For
about a block, we followed a man pushing a cart down the center of the road. He
didn’t see or hear us, and we didn’t want to scare him, so we just waited
patiently until he noticed us. It was definitely a fun way to begin our road
trip.
Adam is my most favorite travel buddy. But in our truck,
he’s always so far away. The middle console takes up too much room! A while
back, I asked Adam to replace the two-bucket seats in our truck for one bench seat but...he
kindly declined. Boooo. I guess there’s no option for that sort of thing in the Raptor. BUT, we don’t have our truck here! Instead, we’re borrowing my Papa’s
car…and that means: closer seating! Wahoo! I do like our
truck, but I could go for this picture any day of the week. Plus, it’s safer
when I stretch over for a kiss anyways!
The last time I made this drive, I had a 26-foot trailer
behind me. Usually, I can drive AND admire the scenery simultaneously. Not in
that thing. So, it was a nice change having Adam behind the wheel. I caught
this beauty while we were coming off the mountain. So pretty.
But pretty turned pretty ugly when we got within 40 miles of our
destination. This is what we ran into. Traffic everywhere. I was reminded quickly just how much I
dislike - even loathe - Seattle traffic.
Turns out, however, that there actually was a positive side to the slow moving cluster of cars: this image!
Adam and I got to enjoy the setting sun over Washington State’s capital
building this evening. Oh gosh. I was in awe.
When we finally arrived, we were quickly whisked away by
Katy to a secret location. She had planned a special night for us and wouldn’t
give us any clues until we arrived outside of The Olympia Little Theater…a
play! Goodbye Charlie was set to
begin with only a few minutes to spare!
Katy’s been going to the local theater and wanted to share
with us something that she enjoys. Neither Adam nor I had ever been to a play
before, so we were really excited. It was wonderful and I know now that we’ll
be attending the theater a lot more back home in Florida! Thank you again,
Katy, for our lovely surprise! We’re so happy to be here!
