The Sticky Town Center Apartment
Well, this morning started off hot, sticky, and sweaty. I threw the covers off me, drenched. My hair, a knotted mess. Great. Something was just not right. With one call to Service America, the culprit had been determined. "Ma'am," the man said, "You've got a tripped breaker. You might have a major problem going on here." Oh, lovely. What does that even mean, a major problem? It's the middle of summer, we're in one of the hottest and muggiest places in America, and I have no air conditioner! How does this happen?! Ah! Upon returning from outside, where the compressor (I don't know what that is...something important) is located, the handyman confirmed the worst news. "Your compressor is shot. It won't be for a few days until we can remedy your sweltering apartment. I'll be in touch with you early next week." And then he left. With my $45 co-pay that is required on arrival. Booo. Thankfully, temperatures in Jupiter were actually quite cool today, and our apartment is only at 82 degrees right now. That's a good 15 degrees warmer than Adam and I like to keep it. Deep breath. And another one, because the air is so thick. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually happy that Adam isn't here. My sweet boy does not sleep well when the thermostat reads anything higher than 70...and I'd just rather have him comfortable, in a cool room...even if that room is 150 miles away.
Just one apartment and one intersection from our home (literally, like 100 feet away), Town Center Drive (the street we live on) closed down for an all-day party they called the "Tiki Bash." Various alcohol vendors set up shop down the entirety of the block with two concert venues at each end. Thousands of people celebrated from 2 this afternoon until 10 o'clock tonight, singing, dancing, drinking, and corn holing. It looked like a good time, but I didn't go. Adam isn't here and I just wouldn't have had any fun without him! Instead, I snuck my camera over the roped-off barrier and got my picture. Abacoa (our neighborhood), is such a fun and active place to be. We love it here!
And I really love Michaels. I have a few projects in mind and an anniversary approaching rapidly. I needed some ideas, and figured this was a good place to start. Naturally, I spent far too long inside, roaming every aisle for more inspiration than I already have. And instead of leaving with items for my upcoming one year celebration, I left with a completely different surprise that I'm totally excited about! But don't worry, I know exactly what I'm doing for my precious Husband. And after my prolonged effort at Michael's, I made my way to another secret store to scope out the items on my list. I'm really making a big deal out of our first anniversary. And I want it to be perfect. Just like it was on the day I said "yes" to him.
On a completely different note, Adam is having a bit of a problem with the hotel room he's staying in near Tampa. We were enjoying a nice conversation when suddenly, he said, "Kendall I have to go. There's ants everywhere." And hung up. When he called me back an hour later, he had one heck of a story. Apparently, he'd left some (used) workout clothes from earlier today laying on the ground. Naturally. When Adam returned to his room after tonight's game, a surprise stampede of hundreds of ants were running all over his clothes!! Like, everywhere! He immediately cleaned the mess, throwing his ant-infested clothes into the bathtub until all of them had gone down the drain. When he called the front desk, they told him that they'd had this problem before and that these little tiny insects really like sweat; that's why they found themselves wrapped up in Adam's dirty laundry. Ewwwwww. The hotel switched him rooms, and hopefully, this one remains bug-free. I'm officially grossed out. Currently, I'm battling that feeling of ants crawling all over my skin. I can't imagine how Adam feels. Poor guy! Maybe now, he won't leave his dirty clothes laying on the floor! Wahoo!
