Day Three Hundred and Three

The Good Decision

At 1 AM this morning, my windshield more resembled a battlefield than anything else. Victor? The Raptor, of course! I texted Adam this photo while driving back from Fort Myers and his response was, “Shouldn’t have been flying there!” Well said, Sweetheart. I concur…especially now that its guts are permanently smeared across the once-perfectly streak-free glass I just had washed. I guess it comes with the territory of being a baseball wife. I’d better get used to dirty windshields because I definitely do a lot of driving! Late last night, Adam and I decided that it was best for me to drive back home. The team brought up two pitchers from our Rookie ball club to fill in for Jose and Christian, who were both at the Futures Game in Kansas City. And the two new players both needed a place to sleep. So, one of them was sent to our room. This made our options few: either have me stay in a room with Adam and a guy we barely knew, buy another hotel room, or drive home. I wasn’t fond of any choice. Neither was Adam. But we decided that option number 1 wasn’t actually an option at all, #2 cost us $65, and #3, well, it just made the most sense. So at 10 PM, after a wonderful dinner on the ocean, I drove the 3 hours back to Jupiter. And this morning, I didn’t wake up until…well…I’m too ashamed to admit, so just assume that it was much too late.

When I finally got around to dragging my tired eyes out of bed, the day flashed by in a hurry. I got ready real fast, took my bike (which was in a box) to the bicycle shop, and then met my sweet Ale at the beach. Looking back, driving home last night turned out to be such a good decision!! Alejandra and I have both been pretty busy since the move, and definitely needed a little time to catch up on life. Hey, a lot happens in a week! We took our conversation to the car and headed for Zumba class. Oh my gosh…I didn’t expect to sweat that much!! Fun workouts are the best! In all our sweaty nastiness, we immediately headed over to Homegoods (my new favorite store) and picked out some candles for the Conley apartment. (Our home has this weird smell to it…I think the old tenant used incense, and I’m just not crazy at all about incense.) Yucky, stale smell…DEMOLISHED!

At 9:00, we finally got around to making dinner. Shepherd’s Pie was on the menu tonight, and boy was it a perfect decision! I texted Adam a picture of our meal…I think he’s still jealous. It’s his very favorite…good thing it makes perfect leftovers! And most importantly…Alejandra and I put together a new centerpiece for my table!! We spent about an hour at Homegoods searching for the perfect combination of glassware and decorative balls and I couldn’t be happier with it! Our home is finally coming together…and I absolutely love the peace it brings.
