Day Three Hundred and Ten

The Other Yankee Stadium

It rained all day in Tampa and I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever get to see Yankee Stadium. The Spring Training one, that is. After an hour rain delay, they decided to resume the double header at 7:15. And just in time for the pretty Florida sunset to highlight George M. Steinbrenner Field. I hadn't driven into the parking lot yet, and this was the view I saw. Absolutely stunning. The Tampa Yankees are the Class A+ affiliate of the New York Yankees and are spoiled to call this stadium home.

George M. Steinbrenner Stadium is colossal. It wouldn't surprise me if it were the largest Spring Training facility in Florida. I mean, c'mon...it's the stinkin' Yankees for goodness sakes! I'm no fan, but gosh, what a beautiful place they have here. Oh, and right across the street (literally), is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Stadium. I don't know about living in Tampa, but if we ever did, we certainly wouldn't ever be bored!

Every Florida State League game is exactly the same: a huge, immaculately beautiful Spring Training stadium...and maybe, if you're lucky, 58 fans. Well tonight, all of those 58 fans were screaming for Jose, our Hammerhead and Tampa native. He started the second game of the double header this evening and had the support of so many friends, family members, and local followers. It was really neat to see. And I even told Alejandra that I was ever-so-slightly envious. Tampa is only 3 hours away from Jupiter (by car). Washington is 14 hours away (by plane). It's just not fair! I want our family and friends to see Adam pitch too! Haha. But I was happy for Ale...Jose threw absolutely amazing tonight and we all had a perfect time cheering him on.

Ale and I haven't gotten a picture together in a while...so here we are! Baseball wifing it up! :) And we're all smiles tonight! I love my sweet friend more than she'll ever know, and am so blessed to have her in my life. Te amo mucho, Alejandra!
