"The Riches of Your Love Will Always Be Enough"
In all we've managed to experience in the past few months, it's refreshing to see, every time, my husband's commitment to the Lord first. I can't tell you how it makes me feel when he removes his cap, bows his head, and shares a pre-game prayer with Josh. This is what the game is about. This is what life is about. Not stats and scorecards. But instead, people's lives. It took well over a decade for Adam to understand this truth. Baseball is his opportunity to reach people. It's his platform. And there's something bigger going on here than just a baseball career.
A little known fact:
On his last warm-up pitch before an inning starts, Adam throws a fastball from the stretch, and the catcher throws the ball down to second base. The shortstop flips it to the second baseman, and the second baseman tosses it to the third baseman. Normally, this is the end of warm-ups. But Josh, our third baseman, does something a little different.
Josh and Adam were slow to become friends, and after learning of one another's passion for the Lord, things immediately changed. During Adam's first start, Josh approached him from third. Instead of throwing Adam the ball, he walked toward the mound and together, they prayed. Right before the first pitch. And they've been doing it ever since. Today, I caught them in the act. Bless them.
His hair just keeps on growing. And growing. Rumor has it that he won't cut it off until someone important tells him to. Goodness gracious, he might have hair as long as mine by the time we're done with this.
And tonight, a little 4-year-old boy high-fived Adam from the stands and told him, "Hey Adam! You throw just like me!" PRECIOUS.
Adam's line for the night:
6 innings, 4 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, 8 punchouts.
Sat 93-95. Touched 96 quite a few times.
85 degrees and warm!
Adam was spot on last night as was his pitching, you two are so blessed! I love you kiddo.
