Day Two Hundred and Fifteen

The Cutest Home in the World

The Pergasuns. I don't even know where to start. How about from the beginning? That always seems to be a good place:

When news broke of our official placement in Greensboro, I immediately began looking up churches in the area. If anyone could help us, surely someone in the church was a good place to start. I found one, liked their website, and called. I was introduced to Pastor Miller and over a very nice conversation, I ended up with Ed Pergasun's name. He's an elder of the church and also, a real estate agent. Perfect! After a week passed, and countless searches on Craigslist rendered no hope, I called Ed and asked for help. Yes, I asked someone to help me. And no, this doesn't happen often. He told me he had an idea, but that he'd have to check with his wife first. The next day he called, and sure enough, he had found a place for us: in their spare upstairs master bedroom. And after tonight, I so wish we would have taken them up on it. But not long after their offer, I talked with the VP of the Grasshoppers and was told that every player is required to live in the team apartments. I told Ed thanks, but that it just wasn't going to work. Then, two days before moving, it was brought to my attention that Adam and I could've actually lived anywhere we wanted because we're married. Of course. I feel like that deserves a "YOU WOULD," or something along those lines. You live and you learn, I guess. And certainly, we're learning.

Well, on Sunday, we went to Christ Church Greensboro and after service, got to meet Ed. We liked Ed. And we liked Susan too. At Adam's game yesterday, after telling him that the boys were leaving, he invited me over to dinner (after he talked to Susan, of course. Good man). And then he bragged about Susan's cooking. Rightfully so.

Driving down their street is like a scene in a movie. The homes are exactly what I envision living in one day. Perfectly crafted brick houses with rocking chairs on the front porch. Big green grass lawns. And a walking trail right outside their front door. Trees and flowers in bloom everywhere. Lush. Precious. Home.

I walked in and my breath was stolen. Unbelievable. Really. Pinterest everywhere. If Pinterest had a magazine, every single room would make the cover. Not kidding. I was flabbergasted. And I wanted to take a picture of everything (which, to some extent, I did. Hahaha).

A beautiful house doesn't even count, though, if a beautiful family can't call it home. And since leaving mine in December, I've never felt more at home. These people are lovers of the Lord, with pure hearts, good intentions, and jokes for days. If you know the Harknesses, well, you know the Pergasuns. Susan is even tiny, just like Alice!! Ah! And they've both got that God-given gift of superior chef skills. Gosh, I like them. The entire night was so comfortable. And just what I needed after a very long day. Their home dynamic, much like the Sears Family, showed me something different. They reminded me, quite profoundly, of what a strong effect a Christian family can have on people, especially non-believers. So similar to what the Sears showed me three years ago...before I was a Christian. Before I knew the Lord. It was a night that would've only been made more perfect if Adam had been there. I love their hearts and I love their company. And I think he will too.
