The Day Baseball Got Real
I'm breaking all the rules tonight. And I don't care! I have so much to say, and once again, one photo just wasn't enough. Especially not when your man throws 5 shutout innings (minus 2 errors) AND your friends show up with dinner and helping hands!
Ok, so this morning, I stayed true to my workout regimen and completed legs & back of P90X. It's killer. And I was tired. But today, tired wasn't part of the plan. I got ready rather quickly for my liking and headed to Wal-Mart. You see, when your husband is on the field from 7:30-4 every single day, you begin to take on tasks that he'd normally do. Today, I purchased a hitch for the truck, the ball thing for the hitch, and the little pin thing that keeps it secure. All by myself! I called Uhaul, rented a storage unit, picked up some storage bins, and began packing. I made it to his game in time to watch his pre-game bullpen, and he didn't look especially spectacular. Which is just how he likes it. Most every time he has a poor bullpen before the game, he pitches really well during the game - when it counts. Well, he stayed true to fashion today and WAS AMAZING. Holy smokes. I don't think I've ever seen Adam pitch like this before. In five innings, he probably had 6 or 7 strikeouts, no walks, no hits, no earned runs. He had a perfect game going up until the top of the fifth when the second baseman made a throwing error to first. Then another from home to third. Still, he pitched a no-hitter. And sat 93-95, hit 96 quite a few times, and 97 twice. His slider was outstanding too. It was incredible and I'm so proud of him!
Oh, and all day today, conversation in and around the dugout was centered on Adam's infamous Youtube video. I couldn't help but to roll my eyes! One of the coaches had never seen it before and he couldn't get over the fact that Adam got into a fight! Haha. So funny.
After Adam's five innings and final appearance in his Spring Training debut, a few young kids came up to get his autograph. They were so shy, but the sweetest little boys! I love how precious Adam is with children. Melts my heart.
It's 100% official. We're off to Greensboro on Sunday. Teams were posted in the clubhouse at the end of the day today. Of course, we already knew where we were going, so I had a little bit of a head start. Not two hours after the game, Adam was surprised with a house ready for packing and people to help move! Our dear friends showed up, and once again, reminded us how blessed we are to have them in our life. Their hearts are so beautiful, and every time I try to say thank you for all they've done for us, the words aren't enough. Mental note: get their addresses.
After a few hours of moving things into the storage unit, this is how we capped off the night. With the floor serving as our furniture (once again), we relaxed and got to hang out one last time. Channing, clearly showing off her guns, is getting ready to start P90X, and wanted an idea of what she's getting herself into. So I gave her a taste. And look! Stud. She's going to kill it! Gosh I love these people! We're sure going to miss them.
And finally, my sleepy boy. He's accomplished so much in the past 9 months and I couldn't be more proud of the man he's become. He's precious. I love his cute and cuddly face in this one.
Oh, I'm sunburnt again by the way. Guh. You'd think I'd learn by now? No sympathy for me though. But, when I get up to Greensboro, I am going to find a dermatologist (I think that's what I need) and get screened for skin cancer. I figure since I've burned my skin so many times over the course of my life, it's the least I can do. That, and wear sunscreen. It might be one uncomfortable trip to Greensboro if it doesn't turn into a tan soon.
