The Conley Christmas Spirit
The Grinch lives here no more! And we've got the cutest Christmas Palm in all the county to prove it! Our lacking punctuality did create some difficulty in sorting through all the side lined, discounted decorations, however. Eventually, we found a number of spectacular gems, but had to improvise on others. Apparently, tree skirts are expensive? (Actually, I'm learning that everything in the "grown-up world" is expensive. *Sigh*). So, we decided to take an alternative route. We selected a large, white flower pot to place the tree in. We figured that its snowy color would bring about the chilly feel of Christmas that we're both so accustomed to. Well...it turns out that the root system of the tree was far too big for the pot. And instead of just taking the pot back to Lowe's, Adam shoved as much of the tree into the pot as possible, and threw the rest of the dirt outside. But then we found bugs. Little tiny ones. And I wasn't about to have another bug infestation in our home again. Solution? Adam Saran Wrapped the entire base of the tree to the pot, creating an impossible escape route for the baby ant-things. Whew! Then, to cover up the Saran Wrap, we coiled the tree with pine garland and BEHOLD! The most Christmasy Christmas Palm ever! Adorned with all of our newest (and only) ornaments, this little guy is just so precious. And we love having it in our home. To accompany our tree, we spiffed up our bookshelf with Whitacre (the family polar bear), more garland, baseballs, cards, and candy canes. And on the table, a basket of cinnamon sticks and pinecones!
We are thrilled with our cozy, cinnamon-infuzed, lit-up home and are enjoying this season of life together. So much. One hundred days together already and we couldn't imagine anything different. We are loving the bliss of married life and are so grateful for the Lord's provision.
