The Snow Bird Bids Farewell
After a week of 80 degree weather and leisurely living, Katy left our beautiful state for a 12-hour return back to the frigid climate of the Northwest. She left just as a cold front moved into the neighborhood, with temperatures reaching only 68. BRR! I threw on a jacket this morning as we drove her to the airport...with the heat on. I hope she's since managed to find a big comfy blanket to wrap herself in now that she's back home. We enjoyed having her company during this Christmas season and happy that she's made it home safely. Thanks for hanging with us, Katy!
The rest of the day was spent between baseball, cleaning, and leftovers. Adam's begun his throwing program, but without another player here during the offseason, I've morphed into his throwing partner. Kind of. I somehow managed to lose my glove in the move to Florida. So, our game of catch might be misleading in its name. He puts his spikes on, moves back 60 feet, and throws into a batting cage net. My job? Fetch the ball out of the net and throw it back to him. Over and over. Only problem? Well, since I haven't thrown a baseball in 3 months, I managed to spike the ball repeatedly back to him in a most awful game of fetch. It got so bad, actually, that I started rolling him back the ball. And yes, the waterworks soon followed. How do you explain a pitcher's wife who can't throw a baseball? That's like having coffee without creamer. A travesty for sure! My embarrassment overcame me, but my sweet husband wrapped me up in a hug and told me that he'd help me regain my once-satisfactory throwing skills. And I'm holding him to it. The rest of the day, we rearranged our apartment back to its original placement, did some laundry, and polished off the week's leftovers. A good week, a good day, a good night!
