The End of the Road
In six days of travel, we've covered five states, seen four capitals, stayed in three homes, made two friends, and had one heck of a road trip! Today was our last day of driving, and probably my favorite. We took an alternative route home; a ten hour drive that turned twelve with all the sight-seeing we did. This time, the back roads of Alabama and Georgia were our guide. And I couldn't keep my eyes inside the truck. Our God is so creative. From cattle fields, to red dirt fields, cotton fields, abandoned fields and junk fields, the scenery was never lacking in awe. The South, especially where we were, is so rich in history and I wanted a little taste of it all. We left those highways with new perspectives and rekindled gratitude. Life down there isn't easy and reminded us how blessed we are.
We're finally safe at home, and excited to be alive! We had an amazing Thanksgiving trip, but tonight's impaired and drunk drivers on I-95 kept us on our toes. More than once, I thought we might die. We even called the police on one strange couple, in fear that the distractions inside their vehicle might cause a fatal accident. Scary stuff, but we made it! Our first venture out into the world was a complete success and worth every second.
