Day Twenty-Two

The Game

Sundays are good days. And today was no different. Following church service, Adam was itching to get a workout in. Problem: the facility isn't open on Sundays. (I was secretly pumped). But to his amusement, and mine too, the baseball fields at the complex were swarming with young players. It was a Team One Baseball Showcase, and the bench was calling Adam's name. Even on a most unlikely day, I found myself sitting in the Florida heat next to my husband...watching the game he loves. Adam can't get enough of it. Even bad baseball. He loves it. And so do I. Especially the rare times I get to sit next to him while he explains to me certain play situations, or errors, or what pitch he would have thrown, or why that was a poor call, or how having a good catcher can change the game, or why coaches should wear the uniform, or, or, or...the teaching never stops because he's always learning more. And together, hand in hand, we'll continue growing in our knowledge about the game, but more importantly, about the relationship we're discovering through the days of our marriage.
