The Glory of the Morning
Here’s a little insight into our mornings:
Molly and Ella Mae at some point in the night take up a large portion of our bed. We mostly don’t mind because, well, we have a big bed and Adam doesn’t like sleep cuddling anyways. Plus, they’re only this little for a remarkably short period of time in their lives, so we allow the extra humans. And honestly, waking up to this right next to you...we love it. For now.

Once they’re awake, we have morning quiet time so Mommy can read and Molly can keep sleeping. These two gremlins managed to woo me with their cuteness and got a show while I studied.

Usually though, their mornings are either met with Legos or books. In Bearett’s case, a new Star Wars set was all he could wait to get his hands on!

Once Molly’s awake, the atmosphere almost immediately turns from that calm and peaceful quiet to excited shrieks and increasingly louder voices. The kids go into an absolute frenzy when she wakes up, and on cue, Ella Mae screams “BABY GUL! BABY GUUUUUL!” Then they’re off while I cook breakfast - usually either oatmeal with strawberries or some form of “bacon, eggs, and pancakes!” And before I can blink, someone’s hollering at me to help them wipe, someone else is pretend chopping another’s toy, there’s a head butting situation on the trampoline, or in yesterday’s case...someone finds treasure in the form of dog food just laying there on the ground and eats it. Yeah, Lou. I’m talking about you.
But then we laugh and giggle and get tickled and love. And then we eat. And then she falls asleep again. And it goes just like that all day every day with various slight deviations, but not by much.

And I love it. All the craziness.
Almost as much as I love that new Alfalfa spike sprouting up from the middle of her perfectly sweet head.
Thank you, Lord, for such incredible gifts. My children are truly a Treasure to us. And doing like alongside their Daddy is just an unspeakable kindness.
