Day Seven Hundred and Seventy-One

The Delete Button

For the past 4 months, I've been using Adam's Macbook to store my photos on and write my blog. That's because I have so many thousands of photos on my computer, that I can no longer add anymore. Something like 15,000 pictures - just on my computer - but who's keeping track, really? Well, I am actually. Because my computer is basically useless without the upload feature. Not to mention the fact that it's slower than a sloth in the mud. So yesterday, I did what I've been meaning to do for the past 6 months and went through two years of daily photos, deleting the many I didn't need. That number ended up being 4,200. 4,200?!! Ah! The fact that I would even have that many photos even at all is absurd. But to have that many just to delete? Ok. I may have a trigger happy finger after all. In total, I must have around 20,000 images, and to have deleted a quarter of those in one afternoon is a feat that I'm quite thrilled - and relieved - to have accomplished. Up next: figuring out how to use the external hard drive. Oh what fun! Not.

Day Seven Hundred and Eleven

The Late Night Homework Help

This was the scene of my yesterday morning...at 4:00 AM. Yes, you read that correctly. P is a long way from A on the keyboard and even in my most exhausted moments, I wouldn't make that mistake. Not PM...AM! *Yawn*

My mommy is in the process of getting her Masters in psychology...while working, exercising, wifing, cooking, cleaning, mommying, and grandmommying both a two-year-old and a two-month-old. I'm tired just thinking of all that! Anyways, she's currently enrolled in a statistics course of which she absolutely loathes. I don't blame her. She's a writer...not a math wizard. Luckily for her though, she has two kids who could be considered at least math apprentices...or whatever title describes a few levels beneath the Math Wizard (we certainly don't carry that status). Morgan, my baby sissy, definitely has a way with numbers, and me, I worked my way through Calculus II in college. Surely this trifecta of educated women could navigate a simple statistics assignment with ease, right? Ooooh nooo. Wrong. So wrong. We all worked together - them in Washington and me in Florida - amassing our brain powers to finally finish the assignment at midnight...Pacific Standard Time. That's 3 AM my time, people. And at that point, I still hadn't written my blog either, so this sleepyhead didn't hit the pillow until four in thaaaa morning. Gosh, talk about feeling like a college kid again. Yuck. Thanks, but no thanks! I served my time! Hahaha. My Mom is a trooper. And although I don't prefer late night homework, I'd help her any time, any day. She'd do - and does - the same for me. I'm so proud of you, Mom. Your workload is heavy - heavier than most - but you manage to keep a smile on and your focus straight. That's true character. I love you with all my heart!

Day Six Hundred and Twenty-Nine

The Double Dipper
(And Adam's Eleventh Start)

I found my road series ritual. I call it double dipping. And it's so much better than what I did in the past. Two computers. One for the game. One for the stats. Oh yeah baby.

Besides my terrible frustration with the slug pace of the downstairs' free internet (we still don't have internet in our condo), last night was sweet to me. Or, I guess Adam was! He pitched great, and kept this panicking and sick wife at ease. I hate not being able to travel with him as much this season :(
In 5.2 innings pitched, Adam's line:
5H, 1R, 1ER, 3BB, 6K and a No-Decision.
The bats did, however, come alive in the 7th inning, and the boys left Pensacola, Florida with a 7-1 win. Yay!

Day Three Hundred and Sixty-Nine

The Apple TV

Apple unveiled its upgraded iPhone 5 today. If Adam and I didn't already have our Verizon family plan in place, we would've seriously considered the new technology. We love Apple products. In this home, that's all we use. It wasn't always like that, but when my Acer died in the middle of finals during senior year of college, I decided to make the change. And when Adam and I started dating, I convinced him that Macbooks were the way to go. So he bought one too (he did everything I said back then. Hahahaha!! Kidding). Now we're hooked and never looking back. Haha. And today, we added to our small collection of Apple gadgets. While most buyers flocked to the store to get their name on the waiting list for iPhone 5, Adam was busy purchasing our brand new Apple TV. That little baby rectangular cube of goodness right there has just changed our lives.

That little contraption turns our TV into a computer. Instead of watching 5 seasons of Breaking Bad through our Macbook screens, we can now stream it online through our TV! It functions similar to a Wii (I think), but it's not nearly as expensive...and we don't play video games anyways. So it's better for us. Adam is way excited about our addition and has been playing with it all night. He told me today, "Well Kendall, I know what I'll be doing while we're separated for two weeks now!" Oh gosh. I've been replaced by Apple TV.

Oh, I forgot to mention last night...
We've officially been Florida residents for one whole year as of yesterday! WOW! I don't like how fast time is going. And 25 tomorrow? Like, for real? Nooooooooooo.

Day Three Hundred and Fifty

The Difference Between Try and Triumph is a Little Umph
                                      -Anonymous

It's the end of August here in Florida, and that means one thing: rain. Well, that and thunderstorms. Oh, hurricanes too. Pretty much whatever you do, you can count out the sun. Because it ain't here. It's off hiding somewhere. And yes, I just typed ain't. Because of the rain (and lack of sunshine), last night's game got delayed an hour. And then, when the rain came during the game, it got delayed yet another time. All of that made for one late night...and an even later morning. I woke up at noon. Adam at one.
This is the part of the game I thoroughly hate.
By the time we woke up, brushed our teeth, and wiped the crusties from our eyes, it was already the middle of the day and Adam was late. Well, late for Adam, at least. He always, always, is at the field at least an hour before he's supposed to be. But today, that wasn't the case. So, we hurried off to Chipotle (because I didn't have time to fix him anything), and the second we got into the car, it started pouring. Of course.

When we pulled up to the clubhouse, the rain had subsided (that's how it works in Florida) and Adam could stand outside without looking like he'd just taken a shower. Apparently, today was "Dress like Taylor 'Chuck Norris' Krick Day," which explains Adam's PGA-esque attire, complete with a tucked in shirt. Taylor is the Hammerhead's back up catcher, sometimes 3rd baseman, at other times the left fielder, and also our DH. Everyone likes the guy, especially us Conleys, but today, I guess the joke was on him! A new lesson I've learned: Baseball boys will do anything to keep themselves entertained.

My favorite thing about my Macbook pro, aside from it's iPhoto program, is the little built in camera at the top of the screen. With only a few clicks of the keypad, I can be talking to my family face to face from 4,000 miles away. When I was a kid, we couldn't even dream of such a thing! But tonight, through Skype, Adam and I got a chance to see my Dad, Ellie, Auntie Kim, and Gina...and spent some quality time with some of our favorite people. Dad is back home now (wahoo!!!) and doing well. He has physical and speech therapy homework to complete daily, and Ellie is definitely keeping him honest with it! She's been such a wonderful helper since arriving in Seattle, with her biggest task coming today...she prepared TWELVE freezer meals from scratch this afternoon. Gina (my cousin) came over to help Ellie, and together, they set Dad, Grandma, and Jacob up for 2 straight weeks of delicious, nutritious, and easy dinners! All they have to do when Ellie leaves is place the meals into either the crock pot or the oven...push a button...and wait! Not a bad set-up if you'd ask me! A big fat THANK YOU goes out to Gina and Ellie for being a couple of awesome chefs today! And now that we all know you can cook, you're never going to hear the end of it! Haha :) Sucka!

Keep it up Daddy-O. You're doing great!

Day Three Hundred and Thirteen

The Places You Go, The People You Meet

When I accepted my job offer last week, I had no idea where it would take me. Well, that’s not true. I did know that it would take me to Starbucks – since we still don’t have internet – but where else, I wasn’t sure. I’m still not. But today, I got a little taste of something I never thought I’d encounter, and it’s curious to me how God chooses to place people in your life. Adam and I met Bill, my boss, at a Thanksgiving service project through a local church last year. After running into him a few more times over the next 6 months, he offered me a job within his advertising agency. Currently, I create PowerPoint presentations for various doctors around the nation, in order to ultimately “brand” their specific procedures. Pretty cool. I’m learning a lot, and am excited for what the future looks like. For now, my work is confined to my computer and the internet, which means that I spend a lot of time at Starbucks on various days of the week. Today, I was there for 6 hours. Two of them, I was working. The other 4? I was mind-blown. Through Bill, I met another Jupiter-Starbucks-Local named Michael. Until today, I had said maybe 6 words to him. All “hi.” Nothing else. Adam met Michael once, too, but their conversation was very limited. Bill told me a little bit about Michael: he’s writing a book on the book of Revelation. The last book of the Bible.  And one of the hardest to understand. Immediately, I was intrigued, but mostly, terrified. I was scared to death of talking to him. I don’t know…I’ve always been fearful of professor-type people who know everything. Instead of looking at him as someone to learn from, I looked at him as someone who would make me feel inadequate and stupid. Well, after today, I feel only a remote sense of ignorance and stupidity, but mostly, the need and yearning to learn and know more. Michael opened up my mind to so many different ideas and possibilities about the Christian faith. Some things I passed for cooky-impossibility, but others, I’m genuinely drawn to and excited to begin my own research on. I want to know more about Genesis. About the beginning. About the end. The fall of the angels, Adam and Eve, the Blood Line, the Council of Nicea, the Inquisition, the Arc of the Covenant, King Herod, the Resurrection, the Beast, hieroglyphics, Abraham, Shakespeare, John, Joseph, Mary Magdalene, carpentry. So many things! I want to know more, so much more, about the God I serve and the Savior who rescued me from my imminent death. And I think he crossed my path with Michael’s to give me a little kick. For that, I’m so thankful. I picked up Adam following my conversation with Michael and told him everything I could remember. It was a lot of remembering. I probably misquoted him a hundred times. But now, my husband’s excited to pick his brain too. And that’s cool.

And just because I feel it necessary to share…this is my dear husband’s current state. He’s got a new “thing” for his Under Armor headband. I think he’s convinced that it’ll teach his hair how to grow backwards and away from his face (or something like that). I haven’t yet told him that hair just doesn’t work like that. But I don’t have the heart to say the words. For now, at least it keeps his hair out of his eyes. Next, you’ll notice his one white arm. He’s trying out this new form of “heat compression(?)” or something along those lines. Apparently, a bunch of guys on his team told him that wearing an arm sleeve through the night makes it feel better in the morning. I guess we’ll see in 10 hours. I’m hopeful, at least. And finally, his shirt. Adam used to hunt and loves guns, trucks, and basically anything manly. He just hasn’t had the time for such involved and consuming hobbies. But now he has offseasons…and he’s already begun his preparations by purchasing shirts like this. He’s going to be hunting alligators before we know it, so I might as well begin preparing myself! But I won’t complain…He looks pretty hot to me!

Day Three Hundred and Six

The Makeshift TV Viewing

In South Florida, this is how we watch our television. In 85 degree weather, under a shaded overhang, with a ultra-super-handsome man at my side. Splitting headphones, Adam and I enjoyed a nice afternoon in front of our iPad. And I might add that I did like it! But I don't know if I'd prefer it permanently. For now, the Starbucks wi-fi works just fine for our TV needs while we wait on the installation of our cable and internet.

We're currently caught up, really caught up, in a TV show called Breaking Bad. We don't watch much television at all...aside from ESPN, Fox News, and ABC, the TV is never on. But this show. Oh gosh. We really like it. And without internet, we haven't been able to watch it at all since coming to Jupiter - only on road series when we stay in hotels! But because Adam had an afternoon game today, we had more free time to spare. So, we decided to watch an episode. Well, one episode turned into three. And after leaving Starbucks, the suspense was killing us. We made leftovers, did the dishes, got into the truck and drove three blocks away to "borrow" the internet connection from our old apartment. We're currently sitting in our pretend movie theater, watching Breaking Bad Season 4, while I write the blog! It might not be the most comfortable way to watch our show - I like snuggling up to Adam the best - but this works just fine and we don't mind!

Today, I also met with my new "boss" to review a presentation I made for him last night. And he loved what I created! It was such a joy to hear those words come out of his mouth. I had no expectations when I was offered this part-time job, but after showing him my ideas, he was all-in! I'll be designing 1-2 powerpoint presentations per week, on my own time, for as long as he has presentations to give! I am so excited! But not just because of the job, rather, how I got the job...

In November, Adam and I helped serve food to 20,000 people for Thanksgiving with some friends from church. While scooping up mashed potatoes and cleaning buckets, we met a nice Christian man named Bill. He was fun to talk and serve with. But after that night, we never saw him again. Until March, when I ran into him at Gold's Gym. We talked a few times and I learned that he owns a local Subway, and every Tuesday, his Subway puts together hundreds of meals, takes them downtown in the afternoon, and serves the homeless a meal for dinner. I told him that I really wanted to get involved, but soon enough, Adam was sent to Greensboro, and I never got the chance to help, or to even say goodbye.

Fast forward 3 months. Since we don't currently have internet, I went to Starbucks the other day to update all of our accounts with the new address. And, sure enough, out walks Bill. AGAIN! It was unbelievable. Clearly, so much a God-Thing.  We got to talking, and boy, I don't think I've ever met a person so willing, so eager, so passionate about telling anyone, shoot, everyone, about the Lord. But in a way that's not pushy, weird, or awkward. He's great! And somehow in our conversation, it came up that he was looking for someone to work part-time from home designing Power Point presentations. I told him that I'd be willing, depending on how Adam felt about it. And the next day...hired! I'm working for Bill's advertising agency now, and so far, I love my job! It's incredible how the Lord works! I'm so in awe right now.
_______________

I got done writing the blog at 11 PM.
It's 1:34 AM and my first 911 call was just dialed an hour ago.
Everyone is fine. Adam is having some sort of allergic reaction, sun stroke, or severe sunburn itch...we're not quite sure. And yes, I freaked out, called 911 and the paramedics came. He's got some Benadryl in him, cortisone cream rubbed on his back, and an oatmeal bath is waiting. I've never ever seen him react in the manner that he did. And I hope I never have to witness that again.

And thank you, Mom, for being my sanity tonight.

Day Two Hundred and Ninety-Five

The Comfort of HOME!

Hey everyone, Adam again. This is our apartment ten minutes after moving in for the first time. I hardly saw the apartment before having to depart to my game which we unfortunately lost. I returned home with my beautiful wife after retrieving our bed we stored in the equipment shed at the clubhouse, to find everything cleaned, and in order. So in order, in fact, that we prepared a home-cooked meal for the first time in what seems like 2 months. We (mostly Kendall) made Chicken Teriyaki and rice. We planned on making Broccoli too, taking out a second pot however escaped us.

Here we are watching The Office. IN OUR OWN BED! We had to share this bowl to eat out of, and fought back and forth over the scrumptious chicken inside. I'm left-handed and sat at her right...we kept getting in each others way, but got our fill nonetheless. We are so grateful for the life we have been given and have done our best to keep things in perspective. Moving so much in the past year has humbled us and kept us flexible for sure. Even when life gets complicated I still have God and Kendall to keep me grounded, and happy. What a fortunate life we all live, we can't wait to see what is in store for us next!

Day Two Hundred and Eighty-Eight

The First Storm Warning

Apparently June and Hurricane Season are synonymous when it comes to life in Florida. And yes, I'm taking notes. Lots of them. This time of year is much different than what we experienced this past off-season. Usually, the rain pours for a good twenty minutes and vanishes just as quickly as it comes. Now, the story is completely rearranged. It rained all day. The entire day. All of it. And hard. Really hard. The torrential downpour wouldn't be compete, either, without a tornado watch and hurricane warning to accompany it. Call me paranoid, or maybe just a newbie, but there's no way I was going outside. Not yet. Not without Adam. And so, I flipped on the TV, got onto the computer, and ordered Alejandra and I some pizza. Delivery took two hours but we didn't care...just as long as we weren't the ones who had to drive in that mess!

By 8 PM, the rain had finally let up, so the two of us quickly made our way across the street to the movie theater. After being stuck in the room all day, cleaning it up, and packing our things, we were feeling desperate for some fresh air and change of scenery. We sat down just in time for Disney's BRAVE to begin and wow...what a great choice!! All I could think about the entire time was my four red-headed siblings, especially Shelby, and how much I'm missing them and my Mommy. XOXO

I still haven't decided if feet up in the movie theater is appropriate? I certainly wouldn't do that at someone's home, BUT, it's just so much more comfortable in those seats! Someone, anyone? I need answers.

After the movie, we ran over to FroYo as the rain began to pick up. If this treat is anywhere within reasonable distance from me, I won't say no. I can't. It's my newfound weakness, and really, I never feel too guilty about it! It was Alejandra's first taste of the low-calorie dessert and I think I made a fan out of her!!

Day Two Hundred and Sixty-Six

The Beach Babes

Call us stubborn. Or maybe determined. Either way, we found a beach and enjoyed a day in the sun. Finally! I sustained only a few various sunburns, all located in different spotty spots. Turns out, Alejandra isn't quite skilled yet in "sunscreen application." After all, she's never had to use it before! Darn tan people! I'll remember that for next time. Until then, my ear and back will have to suffer the stinging consequences. I swear, one day, I'll get it right. I just hope it's sooner than later!

After a long day at the field, Adam and I love cuddling up on the hotel bed with our computers. While we watch our show on Netflix, I usually upload all the photos of the day onto my computer. It's the best type of late-night multitasking. I really enjoy this part of our friendship. We're not big on TV-watching, but we do make special time for Breaking Bad. It's just so exciting! (We also like The Office...and The Bachelor, but don't tell anyone about the latter).

Day One Hundred and Seventy-Seven

The HunterMan Show

We might be guilty of watching too much TV around here when the time gets slow. Mostly Fox News Channel. So at least we're learning something. And it's relevant too. But no show can compete with The HunterMan Show. It follows the life of a giant-tiny toddler, age 16.3333 months, and his endeavors as a devilishly handsome LittleMan in search of a good ball to throw. Tonight, he impressed us with his dignified vocabulary and counting skills. His best-enunciated words right now? Yellow, Shelby, and seriously Mom?! That's right. This most adorable bundle of joy is now using the word "seriously" in his chopped-up sentences. This one might be trouble some day. With his manly good looks and his already polished pitching skills, his mommy will have to bat away the ladies. Just keep him locked up, Ellie. He's too cute for his own good ;)

I'm a big fan of Mac products. They've made my life easier and certainly more enjoyable. Adam and I sat on our couch tonight, and while 4,000 miles separates us, we got to spend quality time with our family. Face to Face. Hunter knows who I am, and sees me often, which makes me feel a little better about leaving him before he ever got a chance to really know who Auntie Kendall was. Each time I get on the phone or FaceTime Hunter, I greet him in the same way I always have, "Hi Hunter! It's my big big big big GRUM-PY BOY!!" And every time, he squeals with laughter. I miss my family terribly, and keep up with them as best I can, though, I know I could do a better job. We might be separated by an insurmountable distance, but it's special times like these, when we're all hanging out together, that make the miles disappear. Thank you FaceTime (Steve Jobs, that's you!) for bringing my family together so we can enjoy the simple things in life, like watching HunterMan throw his yellow ball around, even if though he's using his RIGHT HAND. (Shame on his parents. Hahaha, kidding!)

Day One Hundred and Twenty

The Soggy Bottom Boy

I love my hangout buddy. For the past 4 months, we've been blessed with an offseason that's afforded us an unbelievable amount of time to spend getting to know each other. And this sort of "isolation" has equipped us with strength that I don't believe we'd have found if God hadn't placed us here in Jupiter. 4,000 miles away. When we struggle, when we banter, when we laugh, when we play, we have only ourselves and God to go to. These 120 days have given us a clear vision of who we married, why we married, and what's most important to us, both as individuals and as a couple. I've got my bootstraps pulled up and I think I'm ready for what's around the next corner. Hopefully.

Tomorrow we'll bid farewell to this season of life and begin the steep trek toward life in the Big Leagues. The facility reopens on Monday, and he's been working diligently all weekend to prepare for the whirlwind ahead. And I certainly believe he's well on his way. For the last 48 hours, Adam's been focused on transferring his hand written binder of baseball/life notes onto his iPad. In the past, he's carried around a bulky binder filled with all-things Adam and decided that becoming more portable was the way to go. In the process, he began brainstorming more and more ideas, and now has an outlined sheet of a book he'd someday like to publish. Wow. Call me biased, but I still can't get enough of him!

And as of tonight, I've finally seen O Brother, Where Art Thou, thanks to Adam's exceptional taste in movies. Those Soggy Bottom Boys are legit and I've been humming their tune ever since.

And thank you Grama for the MercyMe CD! We love you and your cute notes :)

Day Eighty-Two

The Thank You Malfunction

So, Adam and I are a bit behind on sending out our thank you cards. On accident. In the midst of marrying, moving, furnishing, growing, spending, learning, and all the other -ings imaginable, we've managed to gloss over the upmost appreciation we owe to our friends. Not our best move. In a sudden panic after realizing this last night, I went into survival mode. I tossed and turned in my attempts to fall asleep, but was unsuccessful. Fearing that our closest friends and family would harbor some sort of ill will towards us, I designed a Conley thank you card in my head before finally falling asleep. I managed a quick sigh before dozing off. Feeling confident in my ideas, I woke up ready to meet the challenge. Did today turn out as I had imagined? Of course not. By now, I had envisioned the two of us giggling over wedding memories, sipping coffee, and jamming out to our favorite Chris Tomlin songs. Well, let's just say, there was no giggling, no sipping, and certainly no jamming. I instead turned into Scary Kendall the Grump, who's frustration tipped the scales. (Turns out that the "Mays Girl" gene has still got ahold of me). With foggy ideas reminiscing from the night before, I spent the day creating the perfect thank you photos to send out. And we LOVE them. The problems, of course, were seen only at the end of the day, once we went to get them printed. The Instant Prints at Wal-Mart are more expensive, but they're printed immediately. And I'm ok with that. But the machine wasn't. After waiting half and hour for 2 prints, we receive notice that the printer was actually broken. Oh, wonderful. We could have handed them to One-Hour Photo, spent 30 more minutes there, and walked away with our 60 prints. Instead, I managed a smile and stomped quietly out of the store. Well, Plan A was to go to Walgreens anyways, so that's where we headed. All the way across town. After a few minutes, my pretend smile slowly morphed itself into a real-life scowl. Not good. I asked if I could print off some "practice" prints to compare the difference between "matte" and "glossy." I want these to be perfect, and the man kindly printed them off. When they came out, I was horrified. The work I had done to the photo was completely cropped out. And furthermore, the print had blurred so badly that I immediately panicked. Did our photographer really send us photos that we're not able to use? I was in a nightmare. And I was hungry. Again, not good. When we got home, I loaded the "official wedding" disc, opened the photo and was relieved to see that it was me that had made a mistake in my upload. Nightmare over. The photographs we had done are more than capable of being printed as 4x6s. The only problem now? I had to start all the way over. With the new photo. Well, tomorrow should be much better. We'll get our prints and start the "giggling, sipping, jamming" process that I had originally planned. Hopefully this time, I'm right.

(I don't know how he manages me, but Adam is amazing.)

Day Seventy-Two

The Trip North

Between the 11 hours of passenger seat driving, countless crazed drivers, two tanks of gas, an astounding number of Waffle Houses, a malfunctioning MacBook, and slight desperation, my photo of the day was one managed out of compromise. The original shot of Adam standing beneath the "Welcome to Alabama" sign morphed itself into the one above. A picture of a picture made into another picture. A perfect way to end the long day? Maybe not the most ideal, and definitely a test of patience, but Damon's hug was well worth it! And I can't really complain with the new POTD...what was one handsome boy is now two! :)
We made the spontaneous decision to road trip north for our first Thanksgiving together in Kentucky with Adam's grandma, and ended up stopping for the night in Montgomery, Alabama. We were met with a big smile out of our groomsman-friend, Damon, who was excited to see some fresh faces, if only for a few hours. Tomorrow we'll arrive in Paintsville, Kentucky, but not before a much needed night's rest and a fat Waffle House breakfast to start our day off in true Sweet Home Alabama style.

Day Sixty-Eight

The Shaggy Princess

Equipped with stunning good looks and ferocious charm, it's clear that any conversation with this hairy princess will surely entertain. And she didn't let me down. Not ever. I've missed my family dearly since moving 'cross country and it's times like these that make my heart flutter just a bit more. They may be crazy, they're surely odd, and most definitely dramatic, but that group of Mays' (Weitmans and Schends, too!) are my very best friends. I was excited to spend a large portion of today Skyping with Ellie, who's resentment of my picture taking created this POTD (photo of the day...haha). Lacking makeup and a finished hair style, she shied away from the camera by fashioning this shaggy mask. An unnecessary act considering Ellie's good looks! Love you guys...I can't wait to see you...SOON!

Day Sixty-Five

The Baker

There is a finished product. And it's not burnt. By default, I deserve an A+. I wanted to recreate the cozy feeling of home whenever my mom surprised us with the warmest, gooiest, most delicious fall treat I can remember. Oatmeal Cake with broiled coconut icing. Mmmmmm. Well, let's just say that my taste bud memories aren't as satisfied as I thought they might be. Mine didn't turn out as gooey. At least it's edible...and tastes somewhat familiar. It was my first Conley-baking experience and now I have a sort of baseline to grow from. So as long as Adam will eat it, I'll continue pursuing my wife potential as a baker. If not, Publix Grocery isn't too far away and they have an impressive selection of goodies in their bakery.

Day Forty-Seven

The GiantBed-FamilyPlan-GameSix Day

Special Delivery! After almost 2 months of bed-renting (I know, sounds sketchy, but we had no other choice. Not to worry, the one we rented was brand new), the much-anticipated California King arrived promptly at our doorstep. Best purchase ever. With Adam's 6'3" frame and my impressive bed-hog skills, we decided that this oversized Tempurpedic was the way to go. And now his feet don't hang off the end! Plus, once the kids come, they'll have a spot to sleep too! (Haha). All I have to say is...I'd better sleep good tonight! And considering the amount of energy expended watching Game Six of the World Series, I don't think I'll have anything to worry about. Holy cow...unreal comeback out of that one. We're just pumped that baseball season still isn't over.
Last thing to mention about our exciting day...we've officially met our long-time desire of sharing a Verizon Family Plan!! Our phones were delivered today too, and now the Conleys have matching Florida numbers...with the SAME area code! 561!

Day Forty-One

The Everything Room

So, apparently it takes more than a purchase to move furniture into your house. It takes days. And more than just one day too. So, naturally, our once-bedroom has now morphed into our current-multipurpose room. Think dining room, living room, office room, laundry room...all in one!

Because we still don't have any living room furniture, our bed continues to function as our couch as well. And now we're stuck with a TV in our room. A big BOOOO to that one, but my dearest husband needs a place to watch the World Series, and our bed is the only comfortable "chair" to sit on in our house. Our couch can't come soon enough. The decision to buy the TV was one of the most difficult so far. We went back and forth on the subject for a while - since we've had so much fun together without one in this past month - and now, the electronic intruder is sitting at the foot of our bed. But, at least now we can enjoy the games at home, which we haven't gotten to do yet. And I finally got to see the West Palm Beach News for the first time - a little relief to my eyes, which have only been able to keep up with the world through the internet. But although our room has turned into a sort of unwanted catch-all, we're still happy and loving every second of the experience. Marriage is such a beautiful gift!

Day Thirty-Nine

The Mac Boy

Look who I found cuddled up, drowning in the world of bright screens and curiosity. I'm just glad we stuck with the "No TV in the Bedroom" rule, or I'd never keep his attention! Following a long day of various errands, a late dinner, and an even later Game 1 of the World Series, he was looking forward to his time as a couch potato. Well, bed-potato might be more accurate in this instance...BUT...tomorrow we're planning on furnishing the apartment a bit! We're really excited about our newfound mobility and ready to begin making this place feel more like home. The only setback now is the pace change that snuck up on us this past week. I'm having flashbacks to the rushed days of wedding planning, and may need some time to relax and regain perspective. Growing up is hard. There's so much paperwork to do. So many bills. So many documents. So many changes. But Adam's the best teammate I could have ever asked for, and has been such a huge help.

Day Thirty-Three

The Starbucks Internet

If there's anything I truly love about Starbucks, it's their free wi-fi. Couple that with their Skinny Caramel Macchiato, and they've made themselves a deal. I suppose adding in a handsome man doesn't hurt either. First, some perspective: since moving into our home, Adam and I have been "borrowing" our internet connection from an unknown source. (Thank you). Maybe a neighbor? Maybe a business? We're not sure. What we are sure of, is that the connection that we do get, is nothing to brag about. At least we have some sort of connection - yes - but I'd almost rather not have one at all. Adam says the only reason he'd want to have kids at this time is that they might teach me a thing or two about patience, of which I tend to lack greatly in. And I agree with him completely. So, you can imagine my impatience when I watch the blue highlight inch painfully across the address bar, teasing me with the contents of that click, and then at the last second - when the bar has gotten 75% across the page - my screen flashes, to my horror, the words "You are not connected to the internet." WHAT?! I was connected FIVE seconds ago? Some huffs and puffs, a few jiggles of my laptop, maybe a couple hard clicks later, and my feathers have officially been ruffled.  Not to worry, I've been working on this patience-with-my-computer-issue for at least a month now, and therefore have developed a bit more restraint and tolerance. After all, it's free. And at least I have service sometimes. "Better than no internet at all," I tell myself, and then I go search for a snack to relieve my frustration.

So today, we decided to load the backpack, suck up the $4, and walk to Starbucks. This would provide us with 2 things simultaneously: dependable, fast, worry-free internet, and a perfectly good excuse for a date. Both of which were delightful. Adam got the work he needed to get done, done. I did too. All the while, I got to steal glances at the handsome man sitting across the table. I love being married. And, I love too, that today showed just how good of a match we are - Adam with a blue shirt and black computer, me with a black shirt and blue computer. Just precious.
