Day 2,997

The Marlin Who isn’t a Fish

Surprise! We got a dog!!

C’mon.
You didn’t fall for such nonsense, did you?
I have four kids and two homes half the year. The rule hasn’t changed: yes baseball, no pup. No baseball, yes pup. We’re still in the ‘yes baseball’ phase. BUT...that doesn’t mean we can’t babysit! Dogsit?

Welcome to the Conley Chaos, Marlin!!
(Yes, his name really is Marlin and he’s 8 years old, so he’s had his name ever since we signed in 2011!) Our big ol’ pup is half Great Dane, half American Bulldog and his personality is exactly what you’d expect from the mixture. Sweet and lovey and and dopey and lazy. And really really excited. He also enjoys sleeping in excessively small places and doesn’t mind the all too often pokes and prods of little humans - he has three of his own at home!

Molly however, isn’t quite sure of the gigantic stuffed animal yet. She prefers a reasonable distance for now - albeit, she will accept a kiss here and there. From a girl who was raised with dogs in the household ever since I can remember, I feel slightly guilty in the love lost by not having a puppy around. But my sanity IS worth something, so I’ll stick with that for now.

Hey Nana, every time Marlin wags his long, dopey, hard as a whip tail, I laugh remembering the laundry room crime scene when Merlin (my Grandmother’s Great Dane) had cut the end of his tail while home alone and the ENTIRE room was splattered with his blood. Ah, the nostalgia. My grandparents had two Great Danes growing up and to this day, I think they’re maybe the coolest looking dogs that exist.

With the new puppy friend to care for and with the incredible drop in temperature, a trip to the park was the perfect idea.

We played on the toys. We played with the baseballs. We played on the dog. We played with the grass.

Oh yes!! We love everything about Fall in Florida!
Thanks for letting us watch Marlin, our friends! We’re having so much fun!
