The First Sim Game
It's been 5 months since I've seen Adam pitch, but yesterday, I got my first glimpse. And I was so proud of what I saw. He looks bigger, stronger, and much better in those tailored pants! :) To my unprofessionally trained eye, I'd guess that he's throwing just as hard as last year, but with less effort. What do I know, though. I'm just a baseball wife with complete bias toward my husband.
In this picture, Adam is throwing his pre-game warm-up. He was the last pitcher of the day on Field 4, but usually, there are guys on either side of him warming up too.
He pitched three outs yesterday, to three hitters. Two of the hitters flew out to center field. And the third hitter (the Marlin's starting catcher) got pegged in the wrist (arm?) with an inside fastball. Instead of taking his base, the catcher stayed in the box, and Adam continued pitching to him. Thank goodness he wasn't hurt.
Adam looked good out there and I'm excited to see him progress as games begin (on Saturday). Without an umpire - that's what a sim game is - I couldn't really tell what Giminez (the catcher in the picture) was calling balls and strikes. But I think there were plenty of strikes...and quite a few foul balls too.
