Day 3,011

The Perma-cane

Wanna know why my house is constantly on 24/7 hurricane watch?

Well because between child fort-making with EVERY SINGLE blanket in our house, infants who destroy folded laundry bins, probably 5,000 Legos, Mommy’s “dress up” shoes everywhere but in her closet, homeschool, cooking three meals a day (emphasis: cooking), unending dirty clothes, pee pants from someone at least once a day, Bible studying, and just basic general hygiene, well, it tends to lend itself to necessitating the hurricane-watch. All day. Every day.

And honestly, before not too long ago, it would’ve made me nearly insane. I’ve never been one for an ultra super clean, OCD type home. BUT, I definitely feel more at peace with a reasonably picked up living space. Currently, those higher expectation days are a bit harder to come by and I’m thankful for that because lately, I find myself instead finding more fulfillment in watching them play and making the memories with them than I do having a picture perfect clean home. For now, it’s just what we need. Don’t let these moments pass you by, you mamas.

But let’s be real: I absolutely stayed up until 1 last night folding multiple loads of laundry and cleaning the house. If you HAVE to have that clean feeling, no better time than when everyone is down. Sacrifices. They’re worth it in the end!
