The Michigan Fam
Yesterday was an afternoon scorcher, filled with baby sweats and high ponytails.
Mimi was looking ultra cute with her hair pulled all the way back, but what this photo won't tell you is how attached she was to me the entire time we were watching the game. The girl wouldn't leave my lap. And when you're talking about 90 degree sun beating down on you, that's a problem. I mean, less of a problem because she's so dang cute to stare at, but a problem still.
And so, we said goodbye to the baseball field and Dada in the fourth inning and made our way back to the hotel, but not before laying our eyes on THIS!! A carousel in the middle of the concourse at Comerica Park?! Say whaaaaaat?!
I took the (free) opportunity to bless Amelia with her first ever merry-go-round ride, thinking she would absolutely love it. She hated every second. Cool, Amelia. Little baby.
So we left the park and bid farewell to a mess of bipolar memories that I can't exactly figure out what to do with.
Next time we visit you, Detroit, we're coming back with a win. Until then, buh bye, you rascal.
And hellllllllllooooooo 3 hour drive across the prettiest-shaped state in the country. I always loved the way Michigan looked, ever since I was really small. I learned how to recognize the state only because one year in maybe third grade, my teacher told me that I can remember the state by calling it "Mama Michigan." It's beautiful to realize that this state looks exactly like a mother holding her newborn little baby. Ah! My heart! And so, though my child was not happy and the ride seemed to take much longer than it said, I was happy to be driving across my most favorite state-shape. Turns out, I like the actual state almost as much! Such beauty!!
See!
Beautiful!
;)
Meet Henry!
He's my 17-month-old cousin and the second newest addition to this growing family of ours. Henry is my mom's brother's third child and their family lives in a little town on the western shores of Michigan. Since we'd yet to meet this handsome guy, Amelia and I took the opportunity to visit while we were close by! Mimi is only younger than him by a month, and though she's got him height-wise, he totally got her width-wise! Ha! He's a big strong boy with lots of energy!
And I can say the same for his sissies!
Claire and Zoe are the tough and energetic compliment to their bruiser brother and the three of them made quite the fun impression on Amelia upon first meeting!! It's about to be a very adventurous and silly couple of days!
