The French Quarter Festival
To give my Washingtonians an idea, I'd compare FQF to Hoopfest…only with jazz music and food in place of basketball and bruises. Oh my gosh, we have to wait another year for this?! Nooo!!
Alongside three Zephyr beauties, we celebrated many firsts yesterday.
We rode the bus. A first for two of them.
We saw Jackson Square. A first for us all!
We ate at the original Cafe Du Monde.
A NOLA must and another first.
If you want a small taste of heaven, come try a beignet. I'm asking God for a house made of them when I get there someday ;)
We dined like the locals.
A po-boy first!
(Although, NOLA natives generally enjoy these sandwiches with crawfish in place of the prime rib. I'll stick with prime rib, thanks.)
We saw a live jazz street band.
Accompanied by a shredded 50-year-old-man-dancer.
Another first, of course.
We boarded a street car and rode it 3 miles.
$3.00 to ride anywhere...all day. That's what I'm talking about!
This won't be the last, but you guessed it…a first!
And finally, we celebrated the day at Creole Creamery.
A local favorite and yet another first…but only for two of us, me included!
Their sign is my favorite:
"Eat ice cream. Be happy."
And to that I say, amen.
Thanks for a festive day of firsts, my little Zephyr family!
Adam being away isn't so bad after all. Ok, yes it is. Just a thousand times less bad than I thought it would be! Loving these girls and our new city!
One of the best things about baseball is all the places it takes you to, players and their families alike.... Though most places you might not have on your travel list ever, you explore them all the same. NOLA is one of the good ones. I've always thought baseball has been good to my son for this reason alone. Enjoy!
