Day Five Hundred and Thirty-Two

The Flu Sucks...but My Day Didn't

In a scorcher that left the whole crowd sweating puddles, the Marlins took home their first W of the Spring Training season against the Cardinals on game 1 of a 32-game schedule! I don't know what it was about the sun yesterday - maybe because it hasn't been out lately - but goodness, it was hot!

Apparently, Adam didn't feel the same way though. With a long sleeve black shirt on, a towel around his neck, and thirty guys crammed into the biggest bullpen I've ever seen, he didn't break a sweat. He's sick. And it's not been a good past 2 days. The trainers and doctor said that he's either severely dehydrated or has the flu. Remember Day 494 when Adam got his flu shot? Oh yeah, about that...IT DIDN'T WORK! $20 and a sick husband for nothing. I'm mad!

(A note about the bullpen: it's not usually this big! The Marlins have 73 guys on their Spring Training roster, whereas most other teams invite about 60)

Adam's nightstand. This stinks.

And because Adam was sick in bed from the moment he walked through the door at 4:30 (after the game), our pre-planned date night was ruined. Sondra and Dennis invited Adam and I to a play at The King's Academy last night - the same school that we watched their grandson play basketball. And although I was without my husband, I absolutely loved every moment in that theater. The performance was incredible - and apparently it was just a taste of what they can really do. Last night's program was called Fusion; a "fast-paced Broadway extravaganza for everyone." In this act (I don't know anything about Broadway or musicals or plays in general, so this might, in fact, not have been an act...haha) the kids performed songs from The Wizard of Oz, and that little girl up in the front...that's Sondra and Dennis' granddaughter! (She was also the lead character in their last Broadway musical "Annie.") Summer has an INCREDIBLE voice!

And that boy playing the guitar on the left is their grandson! The family is talented, let me tell you! With a grandpa who built rocket engines and a grandma who hosted a radio show for ten years, they were bound for success :)

Fun fact about the King's Academy Fine Arts Program:
They were the first school ever to perform The Beauty and the Beast as an amateur company...and their director actually wrote the playwright that high schools around the nation now use to perform the play. Fast forward a couple years, and they're at it again. Their director - with the support of DISNEY (Like, the real company of Disney) - is writing the first amateur musical to The Hunchback of Notre Dame! How neat is that?! That school, wow...they're a talented bunch.
