Day 3,002

The Trees of 2019

It’s THAT time!!!!!!!!!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!
(Even though she’s not excited one actual bit in this picture. Poor girl never felt the prickle of an evergreen needle before and she had NO IDEA what to think of it)

Grandma thought it was the funniest cutest thing ever.
It was!
Haha Molly would touch the needles with maybe halfway excitement and then immediately snatch her hand back and squirm and turn away. She got to the point where she wanted zero to do with the giant green pokey monster...which honestly is a great deterrent for tree preservation this month! Ah, kids are seriously the best.

There she is! The perfect 2019 tree!

Aaaaaand, the second perfect 2019 tree!

We came to the very real conclusion that our kids will likely resent us for our parental “lameness” when it came to Christmas decorating. To be clear, white lights are the most beautiful Christmas lights. No argument. Beauty in simplicity. You can’t change my mind. Buuuuuut. I have four kids who would vehemently disagree.

And so, we bought them their own Christmas tree that they can colorfully decorate ANY way they want and as often as they want! My house decorations will still be white...but theirs will be colors. Lots of colors. The perfect compromise.

For the record, the second best lights are the colorful fat old school solid dull-ish ones that have that vintage feel to them. Classic and clean. I MIGHT one day agree to those on the outside of the house, upon the children’s request.
Might.

(For the second record: If everyone’s houses were only white, then my children would be entirely bored on our neighborhood drives. And so would I. So to those of you who light it up colorful, you are appreciated every night of December!)
