The First Surgery
Bear says, “Rally caps, everyone!” as he placed the inside out baseball hat on Molly’s head just prior to his surgery.

He was excited and totally cooperative the entire morning. Not for one second was he complaining about the process ahead of him. We prepared him the best we could for the procedure and still, all he could continue speaking about was how pumped he was to not have tonsils anymore. He was just delightful and truly, a breath of fresh air.
I cried saying goodbye, doing my best to speak Truth to myself, knowing that the Lord ultimately was in control. It was still hard. I love this boy more than I ever knew I could and I just wanted to be there with him.
The hour and a half surgery went by quickly. Before I knew it, I was holding my boy in my arms. The kindness of the Lord to pass the time so quickly was a sweet blessing. Everything went great. His tonsils were excessively large and his ears were totally full of fluid. All fixed now! Upon coming out of anesthesia, he had a really rough time, but not after too long was he calmed down and resting in a cozy chair. Due to the severity of his sleep apnea and snoring, he was required to be in recovery for 4 hours instead of 1. And so, we waited there with him until 3:50 finally came along.
He was tired and groggy and in pain by the time we were taking off, but he truly did an amazing job and we are so proud of him.

Once cozy at home, we were given instructions to let him eat pretty much anything he wanted to eat. So when he found out Dad had bought him a special spider donut, he was instantly interested. All it took was one lick though, and the feeling of something hard touching any portion of his throat was enough for him to lay that thing aside and stick to ice chunks. Sorry Bub :(

Thankfully, he had his sissies to bring him much needed smiles and attention. Amelia knew he was probably bored, so she went into her room - all by herself - and got the legos and thoughtfully brought them onto the couch so she could play with her best friend.
My heart.

It was one extremely long day that I’m thankful is over. I’m sure everyone else was thankful too. Well, maybe not the girls! Grandma Katy took on the huge task of watching the two big girls while the four of us went to the surgery center. It was a blessing and we’re so grateful for the tremendous help! We couldn’t have done this week without you, Grandma! And the girls wouldn’t have had so much fun building their fort! Thank you <3

So yeah, Bearett is AMAZING and he’s going to be just fine! Just another sweet blessing from our Sovereign King!
