Day Seventeen Hundred and Forty

The Fourteenth Start

Amelia walked Dada to his game yesterday.
She's so thoughtful - making sure he didn't get hit by a car and sending good luck charms while she held his hand. What a sweetie.

Before the game began, however, the Marlins made sure to honor one of the greatest and most productive players to ever grace the game of baseball. In the last game of the San Diego series, Ichiro surpassed Pete Rose's all-time leading hits total with 4,256 hits. These hits include both his professional seasons in Japan and his MLB seasons. We are blessed and humbled by the dedication to the sport that Ichiro is defined by and honored to play aside him as he continues making hits-tory! Incredible achievement, Ichiro! Congratulations!

Then, it was on to Dada!
We were grinning SUPER big because not only did Amelia's walk to the field help Dada, but her shirt did as well! He went NINE up and NINE down to begin the game and had another no-hitter going into the sixth inning! It would eventually come to a halt when he surrendered a double to a Rockies player, but we were proud of his effort nonetheless! He did give up three walks, but maybe what stung us most was the two intentional walks he was told to commit. It's definitely something the both of us absolutely hate doing - that's baseball I guess. So, that part of his line looks pretty bad, but everything else was superb.

They zoomed in on Adam in the sixth inning when his no-hitter was again dissolved and though I pulled my camera out too late, the stadium gave him a standing ovation for his efforts when he left the game. The sixth inning sort of blew up before that though, as Adam loaded the bases - one intentional walk, the double, a walk - and then hit the next batter with a slider, walking him in to score the very first run of the game. So, when Adam exited in the sixth inning, it was actually 0-1 with Adam in line for the loss, even though he had only given up ONE hit. But the Marlins turned it around and though he didn't get the win, he didn't get the loss because the FISH WON!

His line:
5.2IP, 1H, 1R, 1ER, 5BB(poop), 5K, the No Decision
He's still 3-4 with a 3.94 ERA.
Adam pitches again at noon on Wednesday.
