Day Seventeen Hundred and Thirty

The Twelfth Start

...but first...

CHOCOLATE!

Adam and I were sitting on the bed talking yesterday before his game - just minding our own business and enjoying the few extra hours that comes with his start days.

Meanwhile, Amelia was minding her own business, helping herself to Mama's special and most favorite chocolate bars without permission.

We realized something was up a few minutes too late. No wonder it was so quiet! Little Sneak! Can't blame her though. It is the most fabulous chocolate, ever. Period. Whole Foods 365 organic milk chocolate. Mmmmmm.

With a belly - and face - full of chocolate, this little princess was ready to meet Minneapolis.

Yesterday entertained quite the romantic story line and it gave me pause to recognize and thank our Lord for his constant provision.

Eight years ago, Adam was drafted by the Minnesota Twins out of high school. He declined. Five years ago - to the day - Adam was drafted out of college by the Florida Marlins. He accepted. One year ago - to the day - he was called up to the Big Leagues. And yesterday, on June 7th - once again - it all came full circle as Amelia watched her daddy pitch against the Twins in a Marlins uniform. I couldn't write a better story line if I tried. God is so good and we are humbled by what he's constantly trusting us with.

Twinning against the Minnesota Twins only felt appropriate while cheering on Dada last night. So we got all dressed up and shouted for Daddy!

He threw well despite a couple of pitches that the same guy homered twice on. Adam left the game in the seventh inning with the lead 4-3, but ended up with a no decision in his debut against the Twins. And even if yesterday had gone much worse, I'm mostly just glad he came out of the game alive because he nearly got his head blown off by a comebacker that could've broken his entire face, had he not cat reflexed his glove to deflect it! Gah! So scary!!!

His line:
6.2IP, 5H, 3R, 3ER, 1BB, 8K

Fun fact: before yesterday, Adam led all MLB with the most amount of consecutive batters faced without giving up a homerun. Naturally, when that became public knowledge to the two of us, I told him, "watch, next game you're definitely giving up a homerun." He gave up two. And the first one was to the leadoff hitter in the first inning who ended up hitting BOTH of the homeruns! Can't help but laugh at baseball sometimes. Called it!

Adam pitched well, and making it even more fun was the surprise visitors we had sitting next to us from Adam's hometown of Olympia! Love you SO much, John (Josh too)!! What a sweet surprise - it made our night even better!

Target Field. A dreamy stadium in a gorgeous city. So thankful we got to experience it!
