Day Seventeen Hundred and Sixteen

The 26th Birthday

I remember the first birthday I celebrated with you, six years ago. I made you a CD filled with country and Christian music and baked you a cake. It was all I had money for, but you listened to my songs and ate my cake with a huge smile on your face. At the time, you were persistent in your pursuit of me, and though I played hard to get - and for the right reasons - I sure am glad you came around.

It's incredible how much has changed in six years.
I am so proud of the man you've become and the leadership that defines you. I am a woman who knows exactly how good I have it because of how hard you strive to create a place of security and rest for me. I love our peaceful life together. The fact that I know a gentle hand and servant heart will walk through my front door every night is something I deeply cherish. You are a man who's commitment is unmatched. I am so thankful God so richly blessed me by letting you stand by my side all the days of my life. Thank you for continuing to lead our family with grace and accountability. Thank you for encouraging my walk with Christ. And thank you for being the man you promised you would be. Always growing. Always encouraging. Always loving.

To the kindest, most sincere, and humble servant I know: happy 26th birthday! I'm so grateful I have you as my husband and Amelia has you you as her daddy!
