Day Five Hundred and Twenty-Six

The ArtiGras Movie Night

In this town, they don't just shut down roads for entertainment...they shut down highways. And though it demands increased patience and time driving to or from anywhere, we love the hustle and bustle our little Abacoa neighborhood.

ArtiGras 2013!
Jupiter's annual artistic rendition of Mardi Gras brings over 85,000 people to the streets of our neighborhood, along with 300 artists, 1,200 volunteers, 2.7 million media hits, and so much yummy food (not that I had any...). The fine arts festival stretches over 2.2 miles and yesterday, Adam and I braved the chilly Florida afternoon (it was only 60 degrees!) and enjoyed tent after tent of stunning creativity.

To my baby sister:
Morgan Leigh Mays...you would make a killing during this festival. We saw pieces selling for thousands of dollars and they weren't even as impressive as the paintings you did for Adam and I!!!

The rest of our night was spent with some of the best company around town. Don and Cathy (and puppies Charlie and Jacob) invited us over for dinner and a movie and lots and lots of talking. We've known these two since the first week of finding Family Church (back in September 2011) and immediately, we knew they were our kind of people. There's some folks that you just feel at home with. Like you can open your hearts and let every last thing out. That's how we feel with them. And it's a beautiful thing.
Facing the Giants was a solid movie...but their company was even better. We love you FOUR!

And an update on Adam:
Some of you have been wondering what Adam's schedule looks like during spring training. I wonder the same thing! Haha! We've never gone through the experience of Big League spring training before, so we're learning as the days go by. Last week, he threw 3 bullpens: on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. This week, he throws Monday, Wednesday, Friday and I'm assuming Sunday? Games begin on Saturday, but we don't know when he's scheduled to throw yet. And we probably won't find out until the end of the week...if even by then. When he does throw, it will most likely only be an inning or two, much like last year. But that's just my best guess as I write this next to my sleeping husband, who's not much of a help at the moment! As far as I know, the next time he'll be on the mound will be on Wednesday, February 19...any time between 11 and 12:30 (he said that he thinks he threw at noon today, but didn't remember...). Practice is apparently open to the public (we found that out today) so I'm guessing that you can just walk over to their field and watch him throw...that's about all I know at the moment though! I'll continue with updates as they come...just know that we don't really know what's going on either!
