The New Small Group
By: Adam
This was last week, and this group does justice to the term small group. It was our first small group since October of 2011! During the season I can very rarely go to church because many times I am on the road, or playing a day game on Sundays (meaning I have to be at the field early). I knew getting into this line of work that being a church regular during the season was impossible, so we are left with baseball chapel, studies on the road, and if you don't have to pay for internet in your room, as many online sermons your computer can stream. I didn't however consider the fact that attending a small group during season would be impossible also. Although we finished the season last year in Jupiter, we spent the first two months in Greensboro, North Carolina, where we found a church we could occasionally attend - Kendall more so than me. In Florida, people travel a lot during the summer, and our church doesn't have small groups. So upon return to Jupiter, our drought continued. Once the new small groups began in September, we found ourselves traveling to Washington for Kendall's dad, John. After our travels to the northwest, we finally went on our honeymoon. By the time we got back to Jupiter, small groups had ended again. Unreal. All this to say that finally, we're back in small group and this is just half of our new friends! (The other half were sick or working)
This was yesterday. Notice, the larger, small group (Oxymoron)! Last week, we talked and told stories and before we knew it it was time to leave and we didn't even get to the Bible study! But we enjoyed amazing fellowship and heard some unbelievable stories. This one guy Randy used to work for the government, and cannot disclose the work he did...we always joke that then he would have to kill us. Dennis really is a rocket scientist, Thomas collects tarantulas, and Sondra...she was a Christian radio station host for 10 years. This week, with most of the new names and faces already learned, we were able to begin our new Bible study and cannot wait to learn more!
We love our new small group, thank you Lord for Your many blessings!
